If I’m Frank Lampard and was made to have a very deflating January window, I’d walk away.

They'd have had to have raised money to keep the club running somehow, much like we had to sell Hyam off. For the record, it's probably the only thing I give King credit for since he's bought the club.

I'd be very worried tonight if I was Doug.

The writing was on the wall today with that line up.
I said on here before kick off that we will need to score 3 goals to get a point, I never expected to need 4 goals, but I knew that defence would get turned over at every opportunity.

If I can see the blindingly fucking obvious, then wtf can't Lampard, who's supposedly a tactical genius.

If he sticks with Collins, Binks and Dasilva for the next game, then the fans will be running out of patience already.

I'm sure Plymouth will of watched that shit, and they'll be fancying their chances on Thursday, so that now becomes a harder game that it should of been.

We can still salvage it with decent January recruitment , as I stated a million times before even under robins

Team needs a couple of quality leaders

I hope your right, to be honest I'm not impressed at all with Lampard so far.
He's has a piss easy few games, and hasn't impressed me at all.

It's early days, and he needs to recruit well in Jan, but he's got a long way to go to turn this shit around.

You've said a lot of stuff that's pretty OTT but it's hard to disagree with this one. I get why he kept the side unchanged, and he can't have predicted Collins would play like he was hungover, but he has to react to it somehow.

Sorry, I’m struggling to understand why you think those two statements are contradictory.

Let’s split it out.

1. O’Hare is not a proven Championship winner. The highest finish we ever finished with him in the team was 9th. We did better without him in 22/23.

2. Yes we tried to sell him to Burnley. It’s an open secret.

Those two things do not contradict each other

Yep, not replacing Hamer was a huge mistake, thinking we could rely on one of Eccles, Sheaf or Allan to do what Gus could do was crazy.

Doug King has had a massive wake-up call today. That performance was not acceptable and the flaws in the side were there for all to see.

I like Frank and want him to do well here as he's a thoroughly nice guy, but I'm afraid that's not enough. He has to deliver.

I don't expect him to come out slagging players but he needs to be strong enough to drop certain individuals.

After that performance by some players, I'd be tempted to give a chance to one or two of the younger lads.

How thick are you?

Burnley won the league at a canter that season and wanted him

Sheffield Utd currently on course to get promoted have got him now

he is proven championship player whether you like it or not

while we are sitting bottom half since he left

If ohare was still here, would he start today? Of course he would

What does that mean? If you mean we won't make the play offs, then fair enough - but why is the season over? What I want is to see the manager work out his strongest team. implement a style of play, and identify where we need strengthening over the next window or two. As @Sick Boy said, the priority in the summer is a an experienced commanding keeper, plus recruit a couple of leaders, which were noticeably absent today. Whether FL is the right appointment or not, coaching wise, it seems obvious that we lack a bit of grit. Noticed a few occasions today of players looking hard done by re: 'fouls' whereas that Colby Bishop and the like were all up for a physical challenge (with arguably lesser ability).

My biggest concern with King isn’t what he has done, it’s what he will do.

It seems he had 100% trust in Robins, up to and including sacking Viveash. Robins asked for Adi to go and King obliged.

Because of their falling out, we’re now struggling.

What message does that send to King? Don’t trust your staff is the main one.

Whoever is manager needs an element of trust but also challenge. King needs to learn to challenge his staff but also trust them.
My concern is he won’t trust those in charge of the football side going forward

It was pretty clear Robins started leaving him out when it was likely he was not signing a contract.

We were a far better side with him in. Not that he would have made a difference today.

Let's be honest most of the mess regarding the quality of our squad is down to Robins.
The Barnsley trio, JDS, Binks and probably Dovin, BTA all strange buys.
Doug is liable if he blanket ruled out the purchase of older, experiences players or loans.
But whatever, what came in for our 'windfall' Gok, Gus money looks really low quality. Sad really.

Also there is a difference between being a proven championship player and a proven championship winner.

No we weren’t
There were a fair few games last year where is was clear he was pulling out of challenges because he was worried about a major injury and not having any club at all.

Robins didn’t leave him out because of spite

I suspect he said something to keep player moral up while he was putting a big change in place, replacing the manager. He isn't gonna say it's a bit shit and Robin's pissed the money is he?
No doubt Lampard agreed a January war chest to improve the team from the mess we're in. We'll see what the January turnover is.

King is not the problem. We have recruited poorly since the stardust players have left or have been sold. For that you have to blame Austin and Dr Claire as well as Robins, Robins and Austin mainly but the good doctor who supposedly does psychological assessments to make sure they are of the right calibre, perhaps she should ask them about minerals going forward because the only two players with them are Kitchen and Bidwell.

King has steadied the ship off the pitch and once he has a director of football he will have the behind the scenes team to enable him to concentrate on the day to day running and profits. I can see Austin parting ways when this happens as his track record for digging up diamonds over the last 18 months has been shit. Robins wouldn't have got a tune out of these players so I doubt Frank will. He needs a couple of strong loans this window as our spine is weak as piss, it could get nasty boxing day with a bad performance.

Thing is, if you think it was right to get rid of Robins, then that only works if you bring someone better than Robins in.

What is there to suggest that Frank Lampard will be any better?

And by all accounts, his teams tended to let in a lot of goals didn't they?

Maybe that's why we brought him here. Good fit for that model.
