My honest view is that unless you PPC - which also is a waste of money - the search facility generates little opportunity. I do not even really subscribe to the first page theory. Its the Map and you need to be on that map as most searches are for local solutions.

Really depends on your market i think. As a new entrant to a mostly online market with no geography other than U.K. based we saw some value once we got the terms right for how our audience searches.

If you’re a physical location then sure. The real question is do people discover you through search. I’m now working in homeware and the whole customer discovery process is completely different and stuff like Instagram and Pinterest and Shopping get better results than Ads and search.

To drag this back to CCFC, I’m not sure SEO is at all relevant for the club or any kind of digital marketing beyond direct comms with churned customers.

Email marketing, social, and content marketing all fall under the DM banner now.

Definitely is relevant.

You're majorly wrong on this one, i'm afraid - it sounds like you've been scammed/hired people who don't know what they're doing.

What would you be looking to do with it as a football club? Get into customers minds when looking for days out? Brand awareness for lapsed customers? Gift shopping maybe? I’m not sure where you’d aim for any real value. What are your thoughts?

Depends on the system. There’s open source CRMs out there or shit like Zoho which are pretty cheap.

Actually, ZOHO isnt bad for a very small team of people, and is very low cost. Ended up switching to Salesforce when we connected all the International subsids in.

Back in 1995, I used ACT. Pretty good for us then, and very easy to modify to suit the needs of my business.

We can circle back to this at later date and run a few things up the flagpole when we take it offline.

To be fair i think they know exactly what they are doing

I now offer any prospective SEO enquiry an opportunity to achieve far more money from my incentive scheme then a base fee which is only in line with their claims

I generalised ‘few months’ as it’s almost ‘a few months’ and to be honest, it’s felt like 6 months.

Just to compare....
When our daughter died, my wife wrote to Man U to see if it was possible to buy 2 home tickets for our grandson to take a friend. He was not registered or a member, but she wanted to try and cheer him up a bit. By return, a letter from Man U stating there were 4 free tickets waiting for him to pick up at OT. When they went there were scarves and all sorts of other stuff.
Since then, I have always hoped they do well for treating people as fans and not always as customers.

I arranged an OT tour for some visitors to Manc last year. I had to book through the Manchester United website and give phone and email details. Since then Man United have bombarding me with email offers and ticket news. I send them to my spam now as a default but they have respected my request not to be called on the phone, and as a marketing strategy it might well have paid off on someone with at least a passing interest in the club.

I agree that it has felt like ages, but it’s only nearly a couple of months - not a few. We have worked ourselves up about it, perhaps not surprising given our history, but he has taken approach of only speaking when he has something to say. Like others, I will see how things turn out, but at the moment I will give him the benefit of the doubt - he has barely got his feet under the desk.

The general term "cash free debt free" excludes day to day operating items

Ok, well, tomato, tomayto.

It would have just sat better with me, and I’m sure a few others, if he’d have addressed the fans and offered reassurance. Already. However, it’s early days, I agree.
