That’s what I’d expect BSB is on there or there abouts. Average Marketing Manager salary in the U.K. is £47k. You said it would be ten times a teachers salary. It won’t will it?

Currently on £45k

You were at one point laughing at Kieran and his bold claims of earnings? Such a lack of humour some times

I think there’s more money too if he moves on from Leicester for a decent fee.

I wasn’t laughing at the claim, probably his tasteless comments on the strikes. What any of it has to do with Dave Boddy or Doug King I don’t know

I think the direct marketing is more for occasional fans. Letting them know when games are on, when the team is on good form, offers, etc.

STs I’d doubt are impacted by much, but a phone call when early bird is about to run out or similar is probably worth the effort.

Agree about free CRMs, and shit like Zoho but if your starting point is nothing at all even an excel spreadsheet would be better. I don’t think we need fancy lifecycle or pipeline management TBF.
Yeah I agree, phone calls could be especially vital for our older supporters.

I have no strong feelings about Boddy either way. It was a concern when he arrived, firstly because he was a Sisu appointment and secondly because his reputation, gained from previous clubs, wasn’t great. He has been a big improvement on Fisher (a very low bar I know) but as regards his competency for the job at City, I don’t don’t know.
A genuine question, how do you know that he is so much worse than his counterparts at the other Championship clubs? Do you know each of the CEOs and how they have performed?

I have a few, albeit limited, contacts within the football space and I also frequently get invited to away fixtures by certain clients/friends who have hospitality/box seating at Championship clubs. Luckily that affords me the opportunity to occasionally speak to club CEOs, chairmen, commercial managers. etc. and when the chance has arisen I've often picked their brains to discover what they do differently and how they try to run their respective clubs effectively.

Some aren't overly impressive and you learn quite quickly that they just rely on their owner as an ATM. But with most I've quickly realised that we're just nowhere near where we need to be as a club operating at this level and Boddy is a big part of why.

Exactly.

When my mate was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I contacted the club after a few games of the season, and asked for the cost to upgrade the season tickets from block 19 to one of the corporate lounges. Simple enough question you would imagine. 2 customers willing to spend more money with the club just to get easier access to the seats. (he couldn't manage all the steps where we were).

Not even a reply, also after contacting them a 2nd time.

At the end of that season, we didnt bother renewing at all for the next season. No contact chasing us, asking us why etc etc.

Very poor

Looking again the issued share capital now is the same as it was in 2015, but there are now 3000 ordinary shares instead of 1000. The forms have changed in format slightly and there has been some money exchange for the shares, it says 2400 which I think is per share which is £7.2m.

The A and B preference shares are still there

Just to compare....
When our daughter died, my wife wrote to Man U to see if it was possible to buy 2 home tickets for our grandson to take a friend. He was not registered or a member, but she wanted to try and cheer him up a bit. By return, a letter from Man U stating there were 4 free tickets waiting for him to pick up at OT. When they went there were scarves and all sorts of other stuff.
Since then, I have always hoped they do well for treating people as fans and not always as customers.

In laymans terms for simpletons like me?

When you say above charges have been settled, is that saying Doug has actually paid off outstanding debts?

Interestingly King is also listed under the company ‘Covcityco Ltd’ which was created in late November and had two share issues filed yesterday.

So what’s the story with SBS&L? Can’t see any changes registered yet on companies house and that also has 2 outstanding charges to ARVO. One from 2013 and one from June 2022.

The charges were effectively a mortgage secured against different assets including Ryton.

I still suspect SISU entities hold some of the preference shares. Preference shares get first dibs on dividends I think and also if the company is wound up they have greater rights to a return than an ordinary shareholder.

A lot of digital marketing agencies in the UK charge £150-£200 per hour - consultants can undercut them and make very decent money.

Seriously you can hire a contractor on a daily rate of £350 to follow up once you have the data - this is ridiculous. If a CEO cannot find that its a joke.

Our commercial offers - sponsorship and mascots being prime examples - are also a joke. It took me half an hour to compare offerings to other clubs. It would take an intern a few days to compile the date

Wigan have a strong website and pretty good commercial offers. I doubt they have a massive team behind them.

This is real basic stuff - What do Hornby and Scope actually do then?

£350 a day? What contractors are you looking for? That's £7k a month.

It wouldn't even be that much.

I'd say thats about right, £50-£75 ph for an established marketing company in the Midlands. London, Manchester you're looking at least double that.

Would you reliably get 2000 hours of work a year consulting though?

And we’re talking about marketing grads here, not top end consultants.

If you went for it, yes…I have done 160 hour months and have the grey hairs to prove it these days…I also have a waiting list on standby…there’s a lot of work out there and a big gap of decent talent.
I have no marketing qualifications whatsoever.
