It hasnt gone unnoticed that this decision has been made when there is nearly two weeks until the next home game (also on sky)

A cowards decision to sack Robins now, and aim to control the reaction with his “fans forum” infront of a couple of hundred (at most) rather than face the music at a home game in front of 10’s of thousands.

He’ll hope to have a new appointment in place by then that will change the atmosphere and sentiment in the ground.

I have been firmly in the “Doug has good intentions camp” up until this point. I simply cannot get behind this decision and the manner in which it has been carried out.

To be honest I’d suggest he has fairly big bollocks to make a decision like this.

A small brain though on the flip side.

Presumably he has done it now to give the new manager an international break to train in.

People are so desperate to see the worst in DK.

It's pretty the opposite of spineless to sack a successful popular manager

After watching last night and the sub par performances that have been offered up to so far this season, politely I’d have to disagree.

Or maybe he does not understand how football clubs work?

In time we will see. If he does what the Forest owner has done then it may not be all that bad.

The anti Doug movement is exhausting. Times like this really show how fickle some football fans really are.

The timing is odd, feels knee jerk but you have to be honest and accept that we haven’t been very good for a while and there’s a significant amount of investment now on the line. Not even Robins is invincible to the nature and reality of the business we’re in.

Love robins but what if the play off final was the closest we ever got with him, dougs shown some bollocks to be honest, won’t know if he’s made the right choice until may but what if he has, something had to change and unfortunately it’s always the manager, maybe the next manager takes us the extra step ?

We have been absolutely shit all season.
Tactically we are clueless.
Our signings for me were fucking horrendous.
The players look fucking clueless and also look like they are being coached by Sunday league fucking coaches.
Our defence is absolutely embaressing, cheers recruitment staff.

Is this all on Robins?

I doubt it. Robins takes the blame for how shit our performances have been, the lack of tactical proactivity and general ability to give the fans like 27 thousand there last night anything to he optimistic about.

Now who can honestly get Joel, Binks, Thomas and Kitching playing at a high level in there positions? For me and I have banged on about them for a while. They are tactically poor, display absolutely no leadership. Fall apart given any amount of pressure from opposition. Loui Binks is stick thin, does he have potential? I'm not so sure, when you look at his qualities he is good at running forwards with a football and can play a long cross out to the right wing from centre back.

Again recruitment paid 4 million for Kitching but was Robins responsible for identifying Kitch, Thomas, Joel, DaSilva, Binks and Milan? Because only 1 out of the 5 actually possesses real quality, this isn't good enough.

Midfield: then: Hamer, Sheaf, O'Hare, Palmer, Kelly, Allen and Eccles

Now: Torp, Eccles, Sheaf, Rudoni and Allen

Forwards then Gyok, Tavares, Godden, Walker, Maguire and the other clueless idiot that moved on to Derby.

Now: Wright, Simms, Asante, Sakamoto, Tavares, Bassette, Mason Clarke

Maybe it was Robins doing their job but I highly doubt it, Recruitment has done a terrible.job.

We all know central midfield was absolutely number 1 priority so I won't mention this position but
In my opinion we needed to desperately sure up our defence.
This would have been an absolute priority, 2 absolute solid experienced quaility at centre back for example Mcnally, Hyam, Doyle, I would have utilised the loan market where possible.

A goalkeeper that is ready to be number 1 at this level would have been next in line.

For me this is solely on recruitment. We got rid of the culture of our club, the Fadz, Godden, Kelly, Rose, Hamer, O'Hare even Hyam.

These were strong characters, even O'Hare created incredible chemistry with us fans, as did Hamer.

I feel like we only have Milan with that kind of chemistry now.

The new group lack leadership and fight, you can blame it on age, but Hamer and Doyle as an example had it in abundance.

I don't know what the answer is but sacking Robins seems to be absolutely ludicrous, give him the Shef United job and guess what they get promoted. This is down to recruitment and the players on the pitch.

Very sad and upset Robins has gone, but we'll only truly know if this was good or bad come 6 months or so time.

If we're sat in the Play-Offs come May, then DK will look like a genius. Maybe Robins had taken us as far as he good (let's be honest we had a lot of luck to reach the last PO Final).

On the other hand, this could make us implode. I really don't know, but somethings not/wasn't right behind the scenes.

We’ll see. The impression I got from the press release is we haven’t even started looking yet.

I’m not convinced a period where half the squad is out the country is the perfect time for a new manager anyway TBH.

We’re going to hire someone in time for the window to open and the massive holes in the squad Doug insisted on get filled aren’t we?

Can 100% be seen that way but if the next appointment is poor he will be at risk of further dealing with falling player values alongside falling attendances.

Robins was let down in the summer by the lack of investment in midfield and with all the changes with coaches this season, more than any other season we were going to start slowly and we are around last year's total.

Logic tells me there must have been a rub with Robins and someone and that's either King or someone King sees as more important than Robins. On a purely footballing basis with past achievements and history factored in he surely should have had until the new year to get us performing consistently.

This season will be all about consolidation. Expecting the new head coach to get us promoted this season is unrealistic.

We're 14 games into the season and 7 points off the play-offs with a squad Robins was expected to be a title contender with. Why should the expectations be any lower for the new guy?

Is it? This is the same as the “oh the new coaches can’t be expected to show results yet”. Loads of other managers have instant impact. In fact I’d argue almost all the successful ones do. The whole point of deviating from the last seven years of consistency has to be an immediate change in direction otherwise what’s the point?

Now we’re back on the merry go round I hope if, as is statistically likely, we appoint a dud we pull the trigger sooner rather than later. Whoever it is is working with the assigned coaches and players so there’s no more “he needs to build his own squad” buffer either.

I thought he’d have got until Xmas, so I think DK knows who he wants and now is the time to get him. This is why I think it’s Carsley.
This season has been poor and there’s no one that can say any different.
