With everyone back fit, who starts and what formation? Think Robins found it difficult at the start of the year trying to give players minutes and lots were playing out of position.

When everyone is back, 3 players won’t even make the squad. One of them being Rapha. Be interesting to see how Lampard handles it.

Think it'll be a 433 with MVE, Thomas, Kitching, Bidwell. Midfield Grimes, Rudoni and one of Sheaf/Torp. Front 3, EMC, Simms, Wright. I called it ages ago he'll try Wright on the right and I'm sticking with it.

Obviously football is more complex than this, he'll rotate the squad, he'll tinker formations, but I think the above will be the 'first choice' 11 he'll land on.

I’m not getting carried away with all this. We’ve had some very favourable results recently but we still look incredibly fragile and have rode our luck. The passing out from the back nonsense is a nightmare waiting to happen and we still have some awful players in the first team.
We have been propped up by a goalkeeper who has grown in confidence and a striker who on his day looks good at this level.
We are nowhere near the team that got to the play off final under MR.
Lets hope Lampard can emulate that but he will need better players in defence to achieve that.

If Doug is now proved right (I cant see an argument against it TBF) it seems what he said in the fans forum must also be believed. I thought I had fallen for it at the time as it seemed plausible but now it looks true and have to give him credit

It’s also possible to make the right decision for the wrong reasons.

I doubt we’ll ever know the full story of how it all went down.

The decision to replace Robins was the correct one. But it doesn’t mean he was telling the truth about the circumstances behind it!

There is of course the unintended consequence of Doug’s decision… in that he has secured Mark Robins legacy. If the call wasn’t made and left us to potentially fight relegation or worse… then the status of legend that is MR will have been significantly damaged. So a good decision for the club and ultimately good for Robins. Regardless of what he does at Stoke and beyond… his status and standing at our club will continue long after Doug and Lampard have departed.

I think we have a better squad, (Robins was often left short on numbers), though 1st choice 11 v 1sr choice 11 the play off final teamwas hands down much better.

And I'm fairly sure the style we're playing now isn't the long term vision, but we're on a run that's put us in play off contention so why change now?

As for the defence, 4 conceded in 7 league games, 2 v Leeds, that's a very good record.

Let’s not get carried away now, this summer if we don’t go up we’ll really see if Lampard will get fully backed with the summer window incomings and outgoings

We all know I don't trust the bloke

However

His decision to remove Mark Robins and get in Lampard was right. I dont think anyone can disagree on that anymore. Granted the way it was done could have shown more appreciation etc, but I must say, what a set of bollocks he had to make that call, stand by it, and live or die by the sword with his choice

Looking back i find it quite admirable to be honest

Well done Douglas, and if he gets us to the top flight I will take back all ive said

Still don't trust him though

Proof will ultimately be in the pudding, if we get promoted via the playoffs then Doug got it right.

Lampard and his team have done very well so far, it’s promising with so many players now coming back into the fold and two players signed since they took over it’s going to be an exciting run in.

Running a football club is a business.

And a good businessman who sees the business not being run correctly has to make tough choices.

So fairplay to Doug King.

The 2 others being freak own goals as well, can't blame the defence for either. Not in the same ball park as Kitching's top bins last season.

It’s a good thing King was unburdened by the sentiment. The 30-odd game stretch heading up to Robins being sacked was not good enough and any other manager would’ve been sacked sooner. A lot of the fanbase was willing to blame anyone and everything other than Robins.

Robins is, and will always be a Coventry City legend but it’s a new chapter now.

Though King did say it wasn't about results.
As much as I think on many issues he talks bullshit I do believe him on this, the beginning of the end was the Viveash Robins fall out

Robins was snatching at things towards the end. The forward line. The coaching set up. Will always be a club legend but it needed freshening up. I think the coaches Lampard has bought in have gone under the radar but seem to be instilling confidence as well as Lampard himself. Still only a few games in though.

I have warmed to Lampard (for obvious reasons) as well as the results. I have never bought the great players make great managers idea, as there are so many crap ones.
We do not look like a great side but you cannot deny the number of points we have accrued is amazing.
At this moment in time, it would be difficult to argue that King made the wrong decision. However, where we finish the season and how Robins does at Stoke will give a more definitive answer.
Personally, I thought Viveash was crucial to our success despite the revisionists on here. From that moment on, I had a bad feeling for Robins future.

The results is the bottom line, the cracks began in King’s mind when Robins unilaterally broke up a successful partnership. Which is probably fair given what happened.

I’m not sure why people thinks he talks bullshit, everything he’s said he’s going to do, he’s done. I’m sceptical about the long term are but everything else is going well.

I agree the results are the bottom line, but it was the fall out not the results, Kings words not mine.

As for why people think he talks bullshit, he does!
