I think Charlton Athletic fans had similar views regards Tim Fisher and Steve Waggott when they were at their helm.

Ys they were overseeing the clubs demise from the Premiership to division 1, the third division where we are now. Once they left Charlton fortunes seemed to improve !!

Did he really say that? Well it's easy to be a big brave lion when you have the resources of an aggressive, hyper-litigious hedge fund at your back. Less so when you're working for nothing in your spare time for a tiny voluntary organisation trying to do its best for the football club you love.

Think the trust response can be found here

http://www.skybluetrust.co.uk/index.php?start=3 Donkeys made cov famous

Why take what TF apparently said to heart or seriously in terms of lions and donkeys?

this is the extract from the SCG minutes

Indeed by making such irresponsible statements as that of 2nd August then the fans are being totally mislead. I am angry and sorry for Coventry fans. I travel by train where possible to try and speak to and engage with as many fans as I can. The fans in the SBT are lions led by donkeys. The SBT needs leadership.

I don't think it should be taken seriously either, like when one person called somebody muppets on the radio and people were acting like he was an axe murderer.

That kind of comment generally loses its power and credibility if it is taken lightly or made fun of doesnt it ...... becomes a joke on the person who delivered it

old saying water off a ducks back comes to mind

If there was an intention to rile it doesnt seem to have worked on this occassion

I assume the trust are aware of why specifically lions and donkeys were used - its a reference used in world war 1 especially with reference to the Somme I believe.

Think you will find ashbyjan commented on that on another thread .... cant be sure ..... so i would assume so. Doubt there was any way in which the Trust would demean the sacrifice of millions in WW1 Grendel

Interesting that a war reference should have been made in the direction of the Trust though isnt it

Oh I'm not saying that they would - but the donkey term is purely a reference to that and that alone.

I don't think the war reference irrelevant its just a put down saying the trust are inept and the supporters deserve better representation.

Especially apt when it refers to a war won largely by attrition.

You all laugh at "Timmy" on here as some sort of incompetent patsy (and indeed he may turn out to be) but he is still at the helm of the club. Meanwhile, the Trust (who should be holding all the cards by now) is in factional, piss up in brewery type disarray. He has won for the moment. Need to do much, much better than just calling him names on a discredited message board.
The hysterical threat of legal action by SISU for reprinting the Guardian article shows there is a weak spot to pick at..why not start there?

I think thats an interesting point, and is worth exploring. I am not entirely sure of the specific approach required - the "Private Eye" method perhaps? - push the boundaries? - would keep the issue in the public consciousness and maybe pressure the FL/FA a bit more.

Fisher is clearly not incompentent. He is there for a reason, and that is to ensure Sisu investors make money. The football, and therefore the club, is an irrelavance in all this. If it wasn't, then the club would be in a much healthier position, both location and "on the field" wise, and Sisu would not be threatening fans groups with potential legal action.

I agree, he doesn't get flustered is a great deflector. We might not like what he is doing or like what is going on. It doesn't mean he isn't doing his job....that is measured by what he has been tasked with?
