It’s all downhill from Valentines Day IMO. We’ll have played Boro Leicester and Ipswich twice and Southampton away. Depending on how things are shaping up Stoke and WBA later that month too. Last 11 look very winnable TBH. November and December are tough months, so if we’re still in touch with the top New Years Day I’ll start getting very excited.

Teams will take points off each other, we'll win some of these big games and may lose against teams lower down the league, that's the beauty of the Championship. Take each game as it comes and enjoy the ride.

It’s been an unbelievable start, better than anyone could have expected.

I suppose the only caveat you could apply is that we’ve played 6 of the (current) bottom 8.

Obviously you can only beat what’s in front of you, plus we’ve beat 6th place 4-0 away from home. But statistically we have had the second easiest start.

That’s about the only thing you could look at to temper expectations slightly, but it’s been brilliant.

Really important to get that win when we weren’t at our best

What is undeniable is that we have the points on the board. Others have to get them.

I remember reading an article about the dominant Liverpool Team of the late 70's and 80's I think it was either Dalgliesh or Souness stated that there target was to get to 40 points as soon as possible and go from there.

We have done brilliantly so far , when it clicks we are going to give someone a real pasting

We are not going to play fantastic football and blitz teams every week. Good sides find a way to get a result when not at their best. Most teams that have won league titles didn’t play well every week

You’re right, but after 10 games both the results and the underlying stats suggest that we are capable of blitzing teams more often than not. I’ve had to upgrade my expectations for the season in my head, we have a genuine shot at winning the league.

Long old season yet.

some teams are where they are because they have played us
Millwall/ leicester would have been 3rd if they had beaten us
QPR would have been 4th
Hull would have been 5th
Birmingham would have been 10th

so we could be sat near the bottom, saying we had lost to all of the teams near the top !!

We've often been on the wrong end of those types of performances from top end teams

Interesting though that the top 4 didn’t change after 10 games in

Agree.

With that though, the Norwich & Oxford results are looking poor, but the QPR and Millwall results are looking brilliant

You look at Millwall and QPR in particular, their form has been solid despite their heavy loss to us! The bookies would've made a few quid when Millwall battered WBA 3-0 days after our hammering of them.

It's a good trend.

Our team is better than Sunderland's in 24/25 imo and to err on the side of optimism, the strongest relegated side appears to be Leicester who will probably have a points deduction to contend with. Unlike last season, you had Sheff U, Leeds and Burnley who lost v few games them - well, Sheff U stuttered at the end of the season. If we're still top after Game 20, we can genuinely believe it's our year.

The underlying data is favourable to us because we're actually "underperforming" where we should be at. According to the stattos, our record should be 8-0-1 (before Blackburn, which was a toss up, leaning B'burn).

Haha I hadn’t told my mates I’d done it either, just walked out the toilets like that

mad to think that was a month further into the season than we are currently though and still didn’t even make play offs

To me it's just about getting back in the rhythm we came through that in the end and we'll attempt to keep this going tomorrow night.
I think we have hot spots in game's where we attempt to overwhelm where/when we can, hopefully we'll see that again across the season if it's feasible.
