What's the difference in Villa playing at home the same day as Cov playing at St Andrews which has happened this season and no doubt will happen again - let's face it Bristol city will probably get an attendance of 7 or 8 thousand Bristol rovers 3 or 4 thousand

I think the two Bristol teams are batty boys and can’t be trusted not to start a riot or there are only 10 full time coppers too few to spread around !

It's one game on a Sunday, around 1hr45mins away at 2pm. It *really* isn't anything to cry about.

We only progressed in the cup 9 days ago and Bristol only progressed 2 days ago.

Hardly as if plans have been set in stone for months is it?

All games can potentially be moved, especially cup games and league games around the time of cup games.

What? So both clubs should cater around you because you wanted to hire a mini bus with no idea of when the fixture will be played or even where?

Your plans couldn't have been that concrete if you didn't even know where you were going?

Seems a bit like extreme moaning for the sake of it.

This is almost like someone booking a hotel near Wembley and complaining because they need to cancel it because we didn’t make it.

Avon & Somerset Police will not allow City and Rovers to play their home games on the same day. No different to any other big city like Brum, Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool or Nottingham. And as others have said, the certainty of the City-Shrews tie would give that priority. It doesn't matter a jot what day our fixture list states, the FA Cup ties will always be spread over the whole weekend, from Friday to Monday. Get over it, FFS.

why? We go to alot of away games and stay over either cars or mini bus - always book a free cancellation hotel well in advance (normally premier in) already booked Doncaster and Blackpool Premier inn for next year - On the Fa cup we were not bothered if it was Plymouth or Bristol but had not booked anything as we thought there would be plenty of accomadation available that weekend after xmas - as for the mini bus there quite easy to get if not cars (or train depending on price etc)

Because WMP's assessment of the risks allowed it. Wolves and Villa would be allowed because they are in different divisional commands. They could also call in additional resource from Cov (while there are no games going on there), West Mercia and Warwickshire.

If you go by car or minibus, why would you moan about the price of a train ticket on the Sunday being £58? EDIT: FWIW it's the same price on the Saturday, so i really don't know where you are going with that argument either!
Rovers' ground is a fucking nightmare to get to by train - was much easier when they ground-shared with Bath City back in the 80s!

I would argue around 10 years earlier

after the hillsborough year it began to lose the romance
98 was big for us, as we should have won it that year, but i think it was already going south, and the Media build up was gone

remember 87, when we were all over the media, with blue peter/wogan/FA cup songs/ the team hotel etc
None of that was replicated for Portsmouth or Wigan

since the early 90s the big 6 have dominated with 1 win for portsmouth wigan and everton

1966-1980 - only 1 team won the cup twice, that is why it has lost its magic - just like the premier league, it has become incompetitive

Why should we have won in 98?
Got to the final perhaps, but we would have had to have beaten a very strong Arsenal side.

4th January was actually scheduled to be Rotherham at home not the 3rd round of the FA cup, should we still play that as well on the same day so not to put people off?

I think the club should run all the fixtures past covboy and his magic minibus that goes on the train tracks and doesn't work on Sunday.

Different divisional commands - other than Villa Park and St. Andrews, but they clearly didn't think it was a problem!

Most of us cannot make it on the sunday if that answers your question - About time the fans stood up to the authorities like exeter having to travel to a fa cup replay at hartlepool midweek 700 mile round trip

That's some statement on the bases of a fact that I have an opinion our game should be played on the date advertised so All of our fans can get behind our team - can understand in some circumstances why a game could not go ahead particularly police reasons - however in this circumstances possibly 15,000 fans will attend for both games - why is that an issue? The point previous I was trying to make 80,000 fans attended in September for Villa - Cov -Wolves on the same day -

Tho police don't like them playing on the same day. City have had their fixture booked in for ages. I hate this phrase but stop being such a fucking snowflake.

So by your logic Liverpool and Everton could easily play whoever at the same time day and date as there would only be about 80,000 there. Can hardly see that happening.

They have actually played on the same day a few times but it would be done on a risk category, as we're higher risk away fans they were never going to do it. If you're looking for someone to blame then it will be the twats running on the pitch, throwing smoke bombs and punches at our games.

The main issue is that A&S would want to have their mounted division available for both matches (as LG says we're a higher risk away team). Just hire your minibus on the Sunday, and get over it!

Think it was still good through the Millennium stadium days, some classic finals played there. Semis at Wembley was where it got hard for me to enjoy the final

I agree. Semi finals at Wembley take away the prestige of the final.

'About time'... I took a random date. Bideford had to play a replay against Colchester in 1964, which was a Wednesday, 588 mile round trip. This isn't new. This is the FA Cup. It's funny that 12 of you can't make the Sunday fixture but were willing to have an overnight stay in Plymouth, travelling back on the Sunday. Or is it more that you can't have the 'sesh' you had planned? In which case it was nothing to do with the football.

4th January 2020 3pm is also the date advertised for us playing Rotherham at home in the league. That fixture was known about back in June - Bristol Rovers 2 days ago.

We'll now probably end up playing that on a wet Tuesday at 7:45pm. Bet our and Rotherham's fans who were planning attending that game will be livid about having to alter their plans.

T&C's clearly state all timings are subject to change for both league and cup fixtures.

obviously different generations will see it differently but i was 13 when everton beat united 1-0 in 1995 fa cup final and it is one of my fondest football memories

i think around arsenal vs newcastle final i noticed it dipping in notoriety
