Does Pressley shoulder all the blame for this - Sir Alex recommended him to Cov and i sort of rate Sir Alex opinion on football matters - I seem to remember this time last year skyblue fans Praising Pressley on what a brilliant job he was doing and the club worried that he would be snapped up as he was in the betting for other jobs so the club extended his contract - so i wonder what went wrong in twelve months? could it be anything to do with the whole of his first team squad leaving to pastures new? and him then having to start all over again with loan, and young inexperienced players

or it could be that he had the best two strikers in the league as well as two goal scoring wingers. We were awful under him when he first came him and we've been awful under him for well over a year now.

No not all the blame, just most. As for the recommendation well, all Scots together eh? Ask the Falkirk fans what they thought of Pressley?

Pressley is to blame for all the reject players we have signed, he's to blame for alienating several perfectly good players and shoving them out the door, he's to blame for the negative tactics at home, he's to blame for us not having a designated penalty specialist. He shoulders much of the blame for the run of poor results and for the declining attendances. He did well to keep us from relegation last season but that good will has long since evaporated and I believe at any other club, he would have been sacked by now.

The club is toxic from top to bottom. Our owners are incapable of creating an environment that promotes success at any level in the club. Any new manager will only offer a temporary upturn in on field results at best before everything else that's wrong with the club overpower it like the toxic cancer it is meaning if we dodge relegation this season we'll be back in the same trouble next season. Even worse though, if we do go down I can quite easily see in a relegation battle still next season with the possibility of dropping into the conference.

That's why we should unite behind getting SISU out. They're only capable of taking us in one direction and they will never change.

He might be responsible for the players that he has signed as he scrapped a team together as we only had a few players left last summer - as for alienating several players and shoving them out the door i don't think he had anything to do with that t as i feel he did not have any choice- bit like the councils and the police having to save millions of pounds with cuts then telling everyone the service will be the same

I know a lot might not agree with me but I do not just blame SP for what us going on. He may not be a great manager but even he would not have chosen some of the rubbish we have had recently. He must have some good points and a certain knowledge about the game.
My view is his hands are tied, he is not picking the players, he is getting rid of anyone who earns decent money as the word comes from above. If we had decent owners, those who cared they would not allow this to continue, but while we all scream for the Managers head it keeps the pressure off the real culprits.
just my personal view.

I think if he were to tell us that his and Waggotts hand were tied from above instead of spouting sound bites about the effort of the group he may be cut some slack. If he said after the next match, we are where we are but I can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, Waggot and I have been told this is the budget and it's not as big as everyone thinks. I can't buy quality and we're just trying to keep the club going and this is the best we can hope for for the foreseeable future he would get people's respect. They are not going to sack him for it are they?

My problem with him is that he's let decent players go like baker mcsheffrey , blair adams, jordan clarke and said its for footballing reasons.

To me it's obvious he got rid of them all as they were the highest earners. If he'd have come out and said I need to trim the wage bill so unfortunately I've had to let them go fair enough bug he hasn't he said they won't fit the play I want to play next season and rubbish like that.

So you think this is what the squad wants to hear?! You think these comments would cement confidence among the players? I think he has a responsibility to do the best he can, but we all know that...he doesn't have to state the obvious about the state of affairs!! Football fans are a fickle lot, myself included, but I can't imagine there's a manager out there who could do any better given the appalling situation we're in, thanks to owners who simply couldn't give a toss.

i started the thread but this is a very good description of how i see things and agree what Pressley and waggot should do - normally what happens is the manager gets the sack then they make this type departing speech - why not tell all now

Waggott takes a hell of a lot of the blame for the squad we have, hes the one who makes the calls, the decisions, the negotiating and the asset stripping, Pressley is the one who has to put up and shut up to keep receiving an income for his family.

Its Pressley who we see in the public domain taking the flack, but Waggott is the one who has signed the majority of these players and head the summer recruitment and asset stripping.

If he said we know the group were honest and hard working he would not be putting his squad of players down at all, The silk purse is an analogy I would not expect him to use but he needs to stand up for himself and the squad. If he has extenuating circumstances then sod the rhetoric and blurb and tell every one how it is. You cant do your job with out the right input and support so if the paymasters above Waggot are at fault as we all suspect whats wrong with saying that. The squad will only improve if average players get to play with better players its how they learn, the fact that most are free agents and journeyman players would mean they probably already know that they may be technically deficient.

I think its widely accepted that SISU are a hindrance not an asset so surely while they're here that's always going to be the case.

did you listen to Pressely talk about signing a goalkeeper? it's absolutely clear he doesn't get to look for a player and then sign him, he gets to chose from a small number of players that are offered up and who happen to meet what we are willing to pay.

Wouldn't that be for the same anybody having to workm within a budget? His budget would have been larger than the majority of his contemporaries in League One, if he chose to spunk a lot of it on strikers that can't score rather than getting a goalkeeper then it's his fault.
