Lots of comments regarding SC's performances over the course of a season that in truth, hasn't covered many Coventry players in glory - with a few notable exceptions, but is he just a scapegoat of Coventry's plight?

My question if SC 'smashes it' in the few remaining games would you want to keep him, on undoubtedly high wages or let him go on a free? - assuming he wants to stay of course.

No he doesn't. I don't think he wants to be here anyway which is most likely why his performance has slipped this season.

Please no.. anyway the question to ask is "does Sammy want to be here next season.." I should think the answer is NO, making the original question pointless

Don't think he would stay, but yeah I probably would offer him a new one. Solid enough Championship player, youngsters and loanees aside is still probably the best central midfielder we have. However, I wouldn't have him as captain, and wouldn't hesitate to drop him to the bench if we brought in someone better.

Yeah I think he is a good player, Just at the moment our team is poor and we are forced to play a style that isn't his. I fear relegation also because at this rate we won't even have 11 players! I don't think he will stay with us even if we stay up. Still I don't think there is a player in the squad I would be gutted to see go...

The OP is correct. Sammy has been made a scapegoat by some fans and others have jumped on the bandwaggon.
OK if you think he has under performed but to allege lack of effort or interest is unfair and insulting.
If I were Sammy I wouldn't dream of staying after the shabby treatment some fans have dished out.

No.

Has done nothing for the team especially this year.

Time for him to move on.

I have been completely disappointed with Sammy this season. I had him down as the kind of guy who would rise to Captaincy but our team lacks leadership more than anything else.

Yet another player of whom I had real high aspirations for but sadly, declined with time.

He has his own agenda and has no regard for the shirt he plays in.

I completely agree. Has underperformed but not to the extent some would have you think. That's football though, isn't it.

I struggle to find Clingan actually staying in this league as he contributes next to nothing in a game and in my opinion never has since has been here.

No he doesn't deserve a new contract and I can't wait till I see the back of the waster.

Havent read any of the above posts, as my answer is simply No!

He's not wanted to be here all season, is an awful captain / so-called role model and the quicker he leaves, the better.

Nope he's been poor. When we have a small squad the experienced players need to step up. He's not done it.

I think it is more in context with his wages he has underperformed, Clingan is probably in the top 3 in terms of wages and hasn't been near the top 3 performers this season.

In my humble opinion he does'nt deserve a new contract, as i don't go regularly, reading what people say about him and his lack of effort ,and more importantly his lack of leadership on the pitch clearly comes out that he's not bothered.

I think he needs better players around him. It appears that his role is to feed the rest of the midfield and ensure we maintain possession. Unfortunately, when the rest of the midfield is so poor the plan doesn't really work as the possession doesn't really go anywhere. He won't stay if we go down and neither should he.
