Hardly. If the reply to 'I would like to have a small wedding' is 'Are you OK with 1,000 deaths' that's just being a prick.

It's been OK for me to be in classrooms all this time

With UBI, it’s an interesting idea.

I’d like to see more trials on a larger scale, but if you could cut all bureaucracy of means tested benefits and replace all other benefits with UBI... Maybe it could be a good and popular policy.

Cutting the bureaucracy I agree, but replacing benefits with UBI doesn't work. It's universal, so everyone gets it. From the richest tycoon to the poorest. So everyone would have an extra £12k in their pocket. That will be noticed by the industries where demand massively outstrips supply like housing and so rent and house prices are likely to go up massively. So the poorest end up paying more for the basics but with less of a buffer because what they used to get in addition to help them is now something everyone gets.

I'm not saying UBi is a bad idea, but you can't use it as a replacement for benefits. As old people get a state pension should we remove all the price concessions etc that they get?

And I think suggesting 1,000 will die because of a vaccinated wedding of 40 is a far greater over-reaction. Perhaps if you had a missus getting into panic attacks over it a few times a week you'd understand why I 'over-reacted'

You can't say what you said and not be prepared to get backlash from it. It was another 'variant' of 'you're killing granny'.

The people that want to push everyone into their way of thinking regarding stricter restrictions behave the worst.

There is no such contradiction. I haven't argued that we should open it all up tomorrow and I don't think the relaxation of measures will lead to the wave of hospitalisations some think. I then said that in 2 months' time, not right now, where everyone is vaccinated and we just have 40 there, we should be able to have a wedding.

Bearing in mind that we have already pushed it back by over a year.

On this occasion I'll let you off, but in fairness to Brighton, he has said a lot on here about how hard it's been for his family, especially being teachers and all that. I'm not begging for an invite, but surely we all want it to go well for him without restrictions.

I do, and I'm sorry that my posts caused evident frustrations, as most sincerely it was not my intention or will.

All the best for your big day BSB!

100% agreed which is why I'd like to see it piloted on a larger scale to assess its impact. There could be untended consequences of this policy such as increased cost of living and/or wage depression because the state guarantees a set income.

Even if UBI is a successful policy, the emphasis has to be focused on created high quality jobs for people. The Government's responsibility is make this country as attractive as possible to invest in.

There has been a lot bubbling under the surface for the past year and a bit, before March I wasn't half as tense and snappy as I am at the moment. As the missus has needed a lot of support I tend to vent steam on here. It does help even if it doesn't look like it!

If it isn’t a fake the participants are vile and should be done for hate crimes.

If it is fake then whoever is responsible for it are equally vile but there probably isn’t anything the law can do.

She is right about illegal settlements and post-wars occupations. But lest we forget, it was Hamas that began the attacks. She is conveniently wrong about that.

I'm ashamed to have a politician representing Coventry in this way.

She is right on some things though, the settlements break international law and Israeli military actions aren't always just aimed at Hamas. Without a 2 state solution it will never end
