For what it’s worth, with what’s going on in the world at the moment, having someone like Cameron with a bit of gravitas as foreign secretary is no bad thing. Probably better than the alternatives…with or without his trotters up

Pretty appalling if this goes through

Welfare cuts worth billions planned by ministers

The changes, affecting hundreds of thousands of people from 2025, would save £4bn in welfare payments.

Only 5 weeks after calling Cameron as part of the 30 years of bad politics Sunak makes him Foreign Sec

Nothing says you are the change candidate than bring back the fella who fucked up really badly and then ran off to hide

What an absolute mess they are.

Only going to get messier over the coming days too, I'm sure there'll be plenty of infighting over Braverman's sacking.

The irony is his foreign policy - especially in the Middle East - was a disaster

A career politician with no real beliefs in anything remotely conservative at all.

History in this sort of thing isn’t good either - brown in his failing administration did it with Mandleson - someone who sleaze and dodgy deals were his natural bedfellows. Cameron was carpeted recently for some lobbying wasn’t he?

It’s just another thing to show how desperately the country needs a GE. So bereft of talent is the Tory parliamentary party they’ve had to airdrop Cameron in with a peerage as a stopgap.

Although if they were going to airdrop anyone in they could have done worse (and they have) than Rory Stewart. I doubt that there’s anyone in the country who understands the Middle East better. Problem is I guess he’s in touch with reality and that doesn’t suit the Tory agenda.

In the international arena, as former PM and compared to others available, yes.

Sunak and May were worse too. I despise Cameron but all those who followed him have been worse.

The Cameron appointment is a useful distraction to the appointment of another utter cretin in Cleverly, a walking misnomer, to the shadow cabinet.

Claiming to be the party of change, only to bring back the bloke who started this whole shitshow is a bold strategy it has to be said.

They weren't, Cameron implemented austerity, he cut government spending in real terms which has a direct link to the state of the country today.

Maybe had the option of keeping cleverly where he is and bring someone liike Tugenhart as Home Secretary but options are a bit thin. Not sure having cleverly as FS when there’s two wars going on is an ideal scenario

Not unexpected but the far far right of the Tories aren’t happy. WhatsApp messages being “leaked” to the press. An unelected foreign secretary appointed by an unelected PM if the gist of it.

Coming from you . And compared to who in the Tory party? It’s become a party of oddball fruit loops following the purge of anyone remotely sensible and intake of 2019. Who would you put in the cabinet ahead of Rory Stewart? You’re swimming in a pool of Fabricants and Gullis’.

This is his problem. If he now gets resignations due to the sacking of Braverman from his cabinet who’s he going to replace them with? If he trusted his parliamentary party he wouldn’t have airlifted Cameron in. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there’s some resignations. 2 of the far far right wing groups of Tories meeting this afternoon to discuss what to do next. Again, wouldn’t be at all surprised if the letters start coming in this evening. Sunak is on his rockiest ground since becoming PM, no doubting that.

It is quite funny how lightly it seems ministerial positions are given and taken away, it's almost like a group of people pretending to be a government (this applies to all parties)

Seems like @bezzer has been hard at work with the poop emojis on my posts about Cameron - have I been too soft on Boris, or are you just a Cameron stan?

16 housing ministers since 2010 apparently

I’m honestly a bit surprised that Grant Shapps didn’t get the Foreign Secretary job
