Starmer doesn't have to "whelm" anyone. The public just thinks that the Tories have reached the end of their shelf life and it's time for a change. That's the worst position a government can be in as there's not much people can do to change it.

if they insist on holding on until late 2024 for the GE May's elections could be a bloodbath

If so, that's a scandal...

I wonder if the best chance of getting there earlier is some kind of giant catfight in the Tories as their impending doom becomes obvious.

They will take the opportunity to pillage what they can, not sure there is likely to even be a big fight over it. Every man for himself.

Yep, that's probably the depressing truth. There's always the vague hope that one of the multiple lunatic fringes blows up and supports a vote of no confidence I suppose.

It might be easier if the lazy bastards were obliged to turn up and do some actual work for a change. They can just suck on the public tit whilst doing the square root of bugger all most of the time. Surely a true Tory would be outraged by this?!

Thibking I read and probably agree with is:

- Inflation is due to be dropping so the longer they do that the better

- Jan is when there’s fewest boat crossings apparently

- NHS waiting lists are slightly better I think

Basically if you’re waiting you’re best waiting as long as possible as all the forecasts say that’s when the key messages will be best.

Plus they’re a load of common crooks who will want as long as possible to plunder and lay traps for Labour at the expense of the country.

Its fringes all the way down right now. I think the Uber nutters will wait for a defeat and try and get Farage in.

I'd still be nervous without a message from Labour for that very reason. If things get a bit better, there's a risk that people will vote for the same, and Covid / Ukraine etc will work as excuses for blips, and they can point to 'improving' things.

(As an aside, having been rung up and told an emergency ambulance would take five hours plus, so could we please make our own way to casualty shows the dire state of the country and its basic services!)

inflation has been dropping and it doesn't matter

Waiting lists will still be pretty shit

unless they wie out boat crossings there's no gain there

As i said the public have just decided they really think it's time for a different government

I'd pay good money to see the Tory party split in half like that, but I'd also worry that there's enough people who'd vote for him as a leader that he might actually get elected! The Boris effect - bit of a larf, likes a pint, tiny bit racist but then who isn't, eh.

Who they gonna put in? Truss again? She’s a laughing stock. Mordaunt is too woke for the membership. Tugenhadt maybe? Or go full nutter and go for Braverman?

Maybe it wasn’t waiting lists then. I remember being surprised mid winter was good for anything health related.

I'm certainly underwhelmed by the prospect of potentially waiting another 12-18 months just to finally replace one bunch of cunts with another slightly less shit bunch of cunts..... woop de fucking doo.

Let's all have a disco.

Delivery of other key pledges: Sunak also promised to cut NHS waiting lists and pass legislation to stop small boats. He didn’t specify which waiting lists he would target but the high-profile elective waiting list is still growing and industrial action by doctors continues, slowing progress on reducing it. Projections suggest the NHS elective waiting list may not fall until June next year

Though if one of the blockers is industrial action by doctors wouldn't you want to address that issue

I would. For Sunak it’s probably woke or something. They’ve painted themselves into a corner fighting RefUK and have to be some comic book caricature of conservatives now.

I don't really want to find out, but how they'd go under Braverman would be objectively. Interesting. Would she carry enough along it didn't matter that half the country hated her?

The actually childish view is to hold onto power despite having no interest in using it to help the country.

every party clings on. The Callaghan administration cling on till losing a vote of no confidence and ironically would probably have defeated thatcher in 1978

and sunny Jim was a far more moral politician than any of todays

Both he and Brown messed up not going earlier - one thing Johnson got right.

Not exactly the same atm mind you, not much incentive to go to the country!
