What else can they do. They can’t fight a GE on their record in government. A phoney culture war is literally all they’ve got. What a time to be alive.

Fucking hell, truly desperate stuff.

Saw a tweet, so obv take it with a pinch of salt, that since the Conservatives came into power back in 2010 they've tightened immigration rules 168 times including 43 laws specifically targeting small boats. In the last 3 years the number of people crossing on small boats has increased dramatically.

They said they were the best at running the economy-they’ve tanked it

They said Labour were the party of strikes-nurses went on strike for the first ever time

They said let the bodies pile high-and to be fair they did.

They deserve to be out of office for a generation.

Definitely the party I'd be voting for if I was concerned about the number of people crossing the channel in boats or the non return of those whose asylum claims had failed

They are literally admitting that this is the only card they have to play. They are just rehashing the Brexit playbook. You've just got to hope the second time around people can see through their attempt to cause division.

I would say the vast majority believe in a fair and sensible immigration policy. It doesn't make you a 'liberal lefty', 'woke' or a 'snowflake' to disagree with the current Tories policy and their nasty rhetoric.

It's funny in a rediculous way to see how pathetic and desperate the Tories are. The far right will lap it up but they make a lot of noise but generally don't vote.

It's just a shame that the Labour that get in are 'Tory light' and not a party that will make any real change.

Sure if they only listen to the rhetoric and not engage their brain. The same people will probably think the NHS is getting that extra 350mil a week (or whatever it was).

It's almost as if there is a correlation with the amount of applications that are processed.

Well, here it is.

Confirmation that the BBC are not impartial and do as their Tory paymasters say.

"BBC editors asked their journalists to avoid using the word “lockdown” in reporting at the start of the pandemic and to be more critical of Labour after pressure from Downing Street, leaked email and WhatsApp messages show."

They should overlay the boats stat with the numbers of asylum claims from permitted routes, be interesting to see if one has gone up while the other has gone down

The numbers are probably skewed at the moment by the Hong Kong scheme. Although that quickly went from the government underestimating the number’s that would take up the offer to extending it for a year because not enough have taken it up. From memory about 6.5 million qualify either directly or indirectly but only 120k has taken the opportunity.

Did hear the claim that we’re taking in half the amount of refugees than we were 20 years ago. Not sure how true that is though.

They're all going to have to try and out arsehole each other for the next year. There's only so many who can get presenter gigs at GB News otherwise the staff will outnumber the viewers.
And given his questionable attitude to child welfare I'm not sure he'll be able to go back into teaching.

Any strikes planned for the holidays? You can picket any time, but to date they've only chosen school days.

Not yet Rob, you’d always be welcome at our picket line and ask the teachers yourself. Shall we save a space?

On a purely selfish level, the childcare may work out beautifully!

As far as I can see it ain't free though, more... subsidised

Childcare becomes more difficult when they start school as the hours so much shorter and the holidays longer (I know teachers are not their for childcare @Brighton Sky Blue) it’s just an opinion.

Yeah , it's not going to benefit people in the here and now.
Though to be fair, I doubt it's the sort of think can be switched on overnight.
