Johnson is getting desperate it seems.

Thoroughly enjoying the thought of him cutting his holiday short, expecting everyone to welcome his heroic return, only to be told to fuck off by everyone except the headbangers.

She's gone up in my estimation a bit, anyway.

Mordaunt refuses Johnson request to drop out of contest - reports
As reported at 3:38pm, PA Media is reporting a line briefed out that Boris Johnson asked Penny Mordaunt to drop out of the leadership race and to back him.

“Sources close to the Leader of the House of Commons” told the news agency that Mordaunt refused, warning that most of her support would switch to Rishi Sunak if she did.

Boris backers fear Sunak lacks clout in the world stage…

I mean, he does. But the alternative is Boris?

Well there will be plenty, although given the increases in everything from mortgages to fuel bils Im not sure how much people can absorb, but the more they trash their reputation the better in the long term.

A Tory friend has just written

'It wasn't their fault [about mortgages and pensions], the Bank of England set the interest rate in response to hyperinflation, which was on the cards for the West since the pandemic and made worse by Russia. The government can only fine tune the outcome and the outcome will be similar in any case. It's going to be bad regardless, even if Starmer was in.'

Thats true to an extent, however, the mini budget shambles added another 1% or so on. Yields have dropped since Hunt came in although crept back up when Johnson threw his hat in the ring. Your friends right that inflation and interest rates would still be bad whoever was in charge though

I find the idea 'well it's bad no matter who's in charge' to be a bit of a deflection. So let's not bother with political parties or a government at all if that's the case

It's disappointing that internationally there wasn't a co-ordinated approach to the QT among them all as in the face of it all I'd have expected the same.

For context the individual in question, a British Asian, has said in the past that 'if I were in charge of the government, I wouldn't be letting in people like me'.

He didn't like Patel because she was too generous to people from 'places like India'. He is second generation Indian and said 'I know what they'll be like, here to take advantage. I wouldn't be letting people like me in if I were her'

I don’t think he’s too desperate - it seems he earns £150,000 for a half an hour speech. This latest attempt at coming back I’m sure will increase this to £200k plus

I wish I was that desperate
