Well pinning this group of MPs to their leader ensures that an election doesn’t happen for another two years. Alternatively you let Tory MPs eat each other alive, keep your powder dry and see if they do your own dirty work for you (like, in say, 10 minutes from now).

If this really is such a foolproof political tactic, isn’t it surprising that it’s never been used in modern parliamentary history before?

Why is letting a disastrous PM be replaced by a more competent one a good idea?

Beth Rigby said a No. 10 source says she is resigning.

There has to be a general election.

She's gone, and they are going to pick a new one within a week.

What a fucking joke this Conservative party is and they are making the country into a laughing stock.

They are

It's ridiculous. Just have a general election. It's the only answer, because this is beyond nuts.

The shortest single term in office is Lord Rockingham (96 days)

The shortest total time in office is George Canning (119 days)

Both died in the post. Truss will make it to 50 days tops.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but they have to put Sunak in. He’s the only one looking to have even the tiniest amount of capability.

I mean as much as her tenure has been a disaster, she has done a terrific job of shoring up the defensive record of Coventry City FC and for that I want to put on record my thanks

The Duke of Wellington was 23 days...but that was in 1834.

Scrap that he was only interim.
