I agree, how they couldn't see what was in front of their eyes with Truss is baffling. It was an opportunity to start putting things right but its been made 100x worse.

Read something saying she’s fallen out with the King and told him not to talk about the climate or something. I’ll see if I can find it, but she appears to be alienating everyone in her first month on the job. Outstanding.

Well whatever anyone thinks of Johnson, he was elected on a manifesto that was a million miles removed from what they're doing so you're right, there should be.
Only 80k tories voted for this.

Brexit is all. There’s been a group of headbangers since the referendum, and more so since Boris’ purge, who see Brexit as this complete remodelling of the U.K. into Singapore and some libertarian dream.

Same way Labour members went Corbyn. Party members will always go for the mentalist dream and hand the electoral consequences.

Liz Truss on the Kuenssberg show this morning, followed by Rachel Reeves.

I wonder which one will get the tougher grilling

I wonder how many Tory MPs would support a no confidence motion.

People talking walking to the game yesterday. You’re archetypal opinionated know it alls without checking their facts

Labour are only ahead because the tories are rubbish. They’ve done nothing to gain any votes. Clearly voted Tory last time to get Boris levelling up agenda lol

Another mate thinks labour caused this by getting rid of Johnson over the parties and what we needed was stability ffs

Absolutely the Tory version of old Corbs, at least he had his fairly sizeable cult on side though, which reminds me, good morning SBT politics thread. Truss' cult at this time appears to be Mr Truss, a couple of other MPs she's bonking on the side and ermmm, errrrr... no that's it.

But the Tory memberships are still made up of the old skool generation and clearly still not ready to vote for a guy who's not white. My 80 year old father in law who is also a Mason would even rather a woman PM than a non white PM. He thinks the risk is they will 'let even more over from Asia' ...which is desperately sad. His delightful masonic mates are of a similar ilk. There is no reasoning. (As ever family Christmas day is going to be a belter !!! )

So torn on this story.

On the one hand, Tory infighting. On the other Birmingham is actually a dump.

I've had to do an incredible amount of mental gymnastics reading that story.

Empathising with the raider for defending his home town while agreeing that, after over a decade working there, it is a shithole.

Not emphasising with Jess Phillips because she's a fucking nuisance even though she was saying the same as Street.

Rooting for a scumbag mugger because he was about to set about a tory, (though the whole episode was probably lies and he nearly got leathered for being a prick), There's a lot to process.

On a week where another Labour MP is suspended for racism because 'black person doesn't think like me so isn't really black' it's probably best not to get into that one.
Let's just say it was the wrong choice.

I think more people voted for either the postmen and/or rail workers to go on strike than voted for Truss to be PM, just to put that in some sort of context.

She also keeps spinning the ‘ah but you only want people helped for 6 months’ when that just isn’t Labour’s current position. Frustrating how the bar is so much higher for one party than the other, and not in the way a certain person here would have you believe.

She is the worst political commentator going simply because of the reach she has and the absolute unhinged bias she holds for the Tories.

According to Jake Berry any Conservative MP who votes against the budget is going to have the whip withdrawn. Are we going to see another Boris type cull prior to the 2019 GE? Is a GE going to be forced? Can’t be a wise move for the Tories in the current climate, surely. If she’s daft enough to do this then the reputation she has for being a mentalist is well earned. She’d be far better off doing an embarrassing U turn.
