I totally agree. The next GE should be a forgone conclusion and the sort of golden opportunity for Labour & Starmer that Boris had. Lack of immigration. If you look at high immigration countries they’re not seeing the same effect. Says in the thread U.K. used to be low immigration and had one of the oldest populations in the world, now 4th youngest in Europe (before Brexit obviously).

I mentioned it the other day but the government is actively trying to recruit 160k workers to work in the care industry from India and Philippines. I think they intend for them to be qualified nurses but there’s a technicality somewhere that they can’t go straight into the NHS so the plan is they work in care homes for 12 months and then go into the NHS as qualified nurses. Then I guess we’ll have to recruit at least another 160K overseas workers to replace those jobs in the care system.It was always going to - those expecting less immigration are going to be disappointed.
