I would imagine by laying people off, usually support staff, then getting teachers to fill in the gaps

We've spent over a generation telling people the metric of success is how much money and stuff you've got. Now we can't find people who want to do jobs which aren't particularly highly paid and much of the rewards are intangible as it's based on providing a service and helping people rather than enriching yourself. Who'da thunk it?

And actively looked down on people that look to live that kind of life demeaning and belittling them and then blaming them

It relies on a lot of goodwill, but when that translates to a 60 hour working week for both of us to manage the workload, if somebody offers you far better work life balance in exchange for a bit less money, yeah I’ll take it.

And no one would blame you. I always used to say to my wife what happened if people worked to rule and said no or I can but this won’t get done but ultimately the kids pay. The profession isn’t sustainable

Speed ‘restraint’ is there to help everyone get places in a timely manner. The nobs who drive 120 mph on roads usually end up a few minutes late for meetings anyway.

Several times a month the wife will break down in tears over how much she has to do that there isn't physically enough time for. You lose time and energy for each other, and management will be at best naive or at worst exploitative over the extras they ask of the staff. The long holidays are really just giving you back all the extra unpaid overtime you did during term time.

So we both want the balance to be right in the first place and it might pay a bit less but that's a price I'm fine to pay.

Good to see that the rag’s unhinged obsession with Harry and Meghan is still as strong as ever.
It’s also probably the most alarmist, snowflake ‘paper’ going.

Mrs. JAM See went to supply teaching for this very reason.

Yes, she only gets paid during term time, but with a bit of planning financially, she's made it work for her.

She's now got a regular four day a week gig, but doesn't have all the other crap to deal with.

Supply is pretty chill but from a job security POV it’s a nightmare. Had one school come in during the middle of a lesson to pull me aside and say I could go home after I finished the lesson because the school couldn’t afford to pay me

If you lose a gig at the wrong time (Just before summer esp) you can be stuck with no income for months.

At least in private sector you usually get at least a months notice and the work isn’t so seasonal.

I think the two years I was supply I earned £9k and £11k, though one of those was part time with my Masters so only a couple of days a week.

Apparently the Mirror is running a story that there’s a band of Tory MP’s and Boris cult members already got letters of no confidence drafted to send in as they want Boris back.

So just reading up on Truss’ history and it turns out she’s anti-monarchy and in favour of nuclear disarmament. Imagine if Corbyn…

Not quite sure what she truly believes. I like politicians who aren’t wedded to ideology but think she takes that bit far !

I just hope her policy is focussed on the country not the shat she was throwing at the members

Somewhere you have to have a set of core beliefs though. Pragmatism / changing circumstances might mean you need to take a different approach to reach your end goals, but you have to have a clue what those end goals are!

It would appear that her core beliefs are whatever gives her power. So they are always liable to change and be imbued with populism and nationalism.

She’s a populists pure and simple which means she has no core values, her only goal is to progress by any means. I’m starting to doubt if she was even ever a remainer or was it just to garner favour with the then PM who was. If she lasts until 2024 she’ll probably be campaigning for closer ties to the EU as the country continues to wake up to that shit show.
