She has absolutely no self-awareness does she? How the hell can Liz Truss, a woman who has spent much of her time in office looking for photo opportunities and getting her name in the media, have a go at anyone for being an attention seeker?

I don’t know why you’re fighting this. The deal with Corbyn was always decent domestic policy aligned with really really terrible foreign policy. He’s literally been campaigning against arms to Ukraine from the start on principle.

The fact is without arms Ukraine would already be wiped off the face of the earth. The fastest way to peace is in fact to stop Putin in his tracks. And that’s why having a cast iron principle about war isn’t the wonderful empathetic ideal it’s put across as but in fact capitulation to the worse of humanity.

Yep. I'd love there to be no war, but the sad fact is there are people out there for whom there is never enough power. And sitting down and talking with them won't work. As depressing as it is, sometimes a show of force is the only way you'll get them to stop. We could have not gone to war with Germany and sat around a table asking for peace - do we think that would've ended well not just for us but Europe as a whole (not to mention the Jewish community)

Well that policy lasted all of 5 minutes

I don't know what's worse.

The fact that this policy was absolutely fucking shocking in the first place, or that the position changed so quickly obviously very little actual thought was put into it and it's just say any old shit she think might get her votes.

Loads of people thought in an election Boris Johnson would make the best PM. Doesn't make them right.

She’s just made an SNP party political broadcast for them. That’s all the SNP will have to do at the next elections. Don’t bother filming some gooey film about what makes Scotland great, just show that clip on repeat through your allotted broadcast time. The contempt she shows for a belief in Scottish independence is an insult to the country as a whole.

It’s the one area I agree with her on. Sturgeon can fuck off and actually govern her country rather than dividing Scotland into two teams every day-and not even the annoying Glaswegian ones. She had her vote and lost less than a decade ago.

'Yeah well... it's not a real 14 point lead!'

You can crow about people not wanting to give Starmer any scrutiny, well plenty also massively over-scrutinise him to the point they can't say anything positive about him (because no matter what you say a 14 point lead is a positive).

Do you really think that all the Conservative voters who on current polls are saying they wouldn't vote as they don't like Johnson are going to stay away come polling day when a new leader is in place. If you drill down on the polling the Labour vote isn't significantly increasing, that's a huge problem when the non-voting Conservatives come back into the fold under a new leader.

Not at all and I've never said that.

But not long ago people were complaining Labour were doing badly because they only had a slender lead. Now they have a big lead the same people are talking it down

But if the whole of the UK had a vote on Scotlands continued membership, they may well be fucked off anyway.

She's going to be as incompetent as Johnson minus the 'achievement' of getting Brexit done to fall back on.

I think he may still be under the impression Sam Tarry was sacked for attending a picket line and not the widely publish real reason of giving unauthorised interviews and making up opposition policy when not authorised to.

oh he didn’t say he considered it a disciplinary offence if a shadow minister was pictured on a picket line and has said he will consider her future when he gets back from holiday?

Didn't she inform the party on what she was doing, so had it "cleared,,"unlike Tarry?

Also why selective posting of polls? I'm not Saying any polls are right but some of the latest polls put Labour double figures ahead.

there haven’t been any polls since the Tory leadership contest started in earnest have there? The gap is only that as Tory voters are saying don’t know it’s obvious it’s going to be a lot closer than that

It wasn’t selective - just the latest one on their account. Yesterdays had a 4pt Labour lead

I dunno. He actually does OK in PMQs... but then he has been against Johnson. He also did well in the Brexit debates, tied them up in that, even though nobody listened.

The key will be as he can't necessarily go for the 'not Boris Johnson' shtick anymore, and how much such a thing would fly with Truss. Although she's thoroughly inept, she doesn't do the appalling joking etc, and I'd be fairly sure she wouldn't end up in a party mess etc, so if we assume she's 'serious' the not Liz Truss would probably fly a bit, but not enough.

So then we're down to policy and presentation... which I do think will come, come an election but... we'll see, won't we!
