I always thought the Conservative leadership election was better than Labours because it weeded out the nutters before the members got a chance to vote them in. Doesn't seem to be working quite like that recently!

They won’t do if they’re left with one candidate after others drop out, which wouldn’t surprise me.

I'd assume the likes of Sunak would want to go to a vote though. Truss ain't really an upgrade on Johnson after all, is she?

I reckon so too - I also expect that it won’t even get to a members’ vote.

It will definitely go to that - Sunak will have significant votes from the party

I can’t see Sunak or Mordaunt dropping out for Truss so I can’t see how it can’t go to the members. Sunak is almost at the 120 needed to be guaranteed on the ballot.

Im actually optimistic on China. US is entirely dependent on them not going mad every four years which looks unlikely.

The Mail is unhinged. It makes me laugh it goes on about snowflakes and alarmism, whens it’s actually the embodiment of both.

The right have decided they want Truss so that's probably who we'll get.

As Tony said above, good for the opposition but bad for the country.

She will be an absolute farce. In a different way to Johnson was, but a farce all the same.

She’s a pound shop Boris Johnson without any charisma and without the ability to lie with enough confidence that at least some people will buy it when in a corner.

Related to Angela Lansbury (and therefore George Lansbury) and the first Labour Chancellor, so there’s some decency in the genes somewhere.

This is a bit concerning though:Greater: Britain After the Storm

Equally disturbing is the lying for power, and also the fact Andrea Leadsom might end up chancellor.

Much as the last leadership election, I'm in the frightening position of hoping a candidate I'd have considered too right before it all kicked off wins, for the sake of all sanity.

Let's at least go back to the days where we protested about how the country's run financially!

In the context of the alternatives so am I. She’s the best that the Tories have to offer since the intelligence purge of 2019 that’s for sure.

I would have thought a hard man supporter of the IRA wouldn't really be into Mumsnet but then again you've got form when it comes to pretending you're something you're not, Tracy.

I'm not you thick c**t, Otis is one one mentioning something on Mumsnet and I said Mumsnet is not the UK.

For a former teacher you really are a thick c**t who struggles to read aren't you.

Most aren't though, there's a few people being very loud about it on a website. In the same way that twitter is not representative about what the world thinks Mumsnet is not representative of what most women think.

When this question is reported on and looked into the vast majority are of the "live and let live what's that got to do with me" view
