Nothing say's, 'calling their bluff' better than abstaining on giving free school meals to the poorest in society in the middle of a huge cost of living crisis.

Well done.

The game playing here by people completely untouched by poverty and enjoying their £300 a day allowance is breathtaking really.

There was a similar 'great abstainer' act by Harriet Harman just after the 2015 election, on the welfare bill. To 'look mature' to the electorate.

You can’t conscript children into an LGBTQ identity any more than you can conscript them into a heterosexual identity. The difference is we do try to conscript children into a heterosexual identity from the day they are born and always have done.

Well in their defence it’s not like including criticism of the PM in the motion has been cause for rejecting it in the past. But perhaps a mistake to think that Johnson would ever follow convention.

They should’ve just immediately put it back in with identical wording to the one that passed. By refusing to put it in again they’ve handed the Tories a victory. I don’t see why you wouldn’t.

I believe it was one passed in 1965 that included personal criticism of the Labour PM. Again it’s an opportunity squandered by the Coventry City of British politics

Yeah the Tory argument is the use of “while” suggests more personal attack than “and”, and I can see their point linguistically. So just change it

The BBC have been fucking awful with this kind of thing for ages.

Often when you have a Tory and a Labour on at the same time or one after another on some politics program it basically goes something like this

Tory: This government will spend £300bn on XYZ
Interviewer: oh that's very impressive. Lovely weather we're having today isn't it?

Labour: We propose spending twenty quid on XYZ
Interviewer: BUT HOW WILL YOU PAY FOR IT? Break down exactly how you will fund this frankly extravagant outlay

In this case it was 'Oh come on it's not fair for you to add up all the spending claims into one figure'. Since when has accuracy ever stopped the other side making nonsense claims about Labour spending?

Zahawi has decided to use NZ4PM as his slogan/tag for the contest. I'm guessing someone overheard him discussing this because look what happens when you go to www.nz4pm.com

She’s the closest on a lot of issues, most importantly climate. She’s still a Tory though.

Short term she’s the best choice for the country IMO, long term she’s the worst cos she’d probably beat Labour and continue the destruction of the economy and public services.

I don’t agree with her on the trans issue either, but as she’s got the same position as Labour it might stop us losing a few second wave feminists to the Tories. I’ve seen a lot going on about Badenoch and switching if she wins. But we’re into very online very Twitter stuff at this point and it’s unlikely to have much of an impact electorally. I just personally don’t like the Tories becoming the party of old school feminists.

Gonna depend whether the nutters swing behind Mordaunt as a stop Sunak candidate or think Truss can pip her into the final two.
