Need to remove Nadine Dorries from the PM's arsehole first though.

Is it right he’s said he wants to stay in place until Autumn/when a new leader is chosen?

Not now. Wouldn’t have put it past him if he’d resigned after say the Gray report

Not sure he'd like the failure. I genuinely think he more likely options, if he wants to hang on in politics (doubt he will, mind) are to make overtures to the Lib Dems, get rebuffed, and then form his own party instead.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he resigns as an MP at the same time. Will help with playing the victim.

Apparently he’s resigning as leader of the Conservative party and expecting to stay on until a new leader is appointed. Surely we’re past that. He can’t stay on after the last 24 hours. Not that he ever was suitable for the job he’s added a new string to his bow in the last 24 hours of being completely deranged.

Surely he can't stay on till the Autumn. It'll be a fucking farce (of course it already is). He can't even resign properly!

Good riddance though. The worst PM in history. He's damaged the country for decades to come, responsible for the deaths of thousands, refused to feed hungry kids. The list goes on.

How can they let him stay on? This is about him not being fit to govern and all the resignations have come on that basis. There’s currently nobody left in the education department. How is he going to fill those jobs if no one thinks he’s fit to govern? If he’s not fit to govern he’s not fit to govern full time or in the interim. If what’s being reported is correct he’s just making a bad situation worse.

Tell you what, anybody who works in the public sector should be very worried about what comes next. Expect tax and budget cuts...

Cummings is a twat but he's right here.

Johnson will spend the coming months trying to wriggle out of it.

A few tax cuts, some abhorrent immigration policy, and the headbangers will be backing him again

Johnson and Sunak were always fighting because Johnson wants to spend big and Sunak is a Thatcherite who doesn’t believe in govt spending. Johnson was way to left of his party in that respect so whoever comes next will want to show they’re a proper Tory and cut spending.

What about hooking up with Farage to con angry pensioners into donating money for the war against wokeness/Europe/immigrants?

Part of the rebellion has been that Johnson hasn't been behaving in a traditional right wing way - he's been bigger state, and his instinct has always been throw money at a problem. Pressure's been on him to cut taxes and, with that, comes a cut in budgets.

A new leader will want to differentiate from Johnson, so expect much talk of frugal responsibility and a return to a form of austerity.
