For a little while yes, but it’d be foolish to not even consider it when the government is in such a mess.

The confidence vote is redundant, as anyone other than Johnson would win it. An election? Yep, relevant, but not worth pushing for until Johnson decides how he wants to go.

It's not worth the risk.

Although the majority of Tories now want Johnson out, they most certainly don't want an election because they don't want to lose their jobs and don't want a Labour government.

All it would do is give Johnson the ability to say he has the party's confidence again.

Let him carry on destroying the Tories from within for as long as he is willing. (from an electoral point of view that is. Clearly the longer he does it the worse it is for the country as a whole)

Boris Johnson: Resignations exceed 50 but PM stays in post

The PM is fighting for his future as his two most recent cabinet appointments call for him to quit.
www.bbc.co.uk

Pisses me off the tories whinging about constitutional crisis, they gave him a vote of confidence 4 weeks ago. They caused it

I think people expecting a resignation may be disappointed. He is clearly never going to go voluntarily

Credit to Johnson and the government where it’s due. It’s been great political theatre and entertainment but I think we’re all ready for a bit of normality.

tbh, it's probably in their interests to let Johnson continue to implode. Even better if he does go for some harebrained scheme of splitting the party and going to the country himself.

When is summer recess? Is there an argument from the Labour side to hope this gets strung out to the summer and all the focus is in Johnson and then into conference season.

You've got to say, his judgement looks pretty awful right now. Although the Times has an article he's been plotting a leadership campaign for the past 10 months so maybe, somehow, Johnson has played into this?!?

How is their pride in how they handled covid? I’m happy about the vaccination work but not the whole thing no way.

Getting brexit done??? Would we?

How he can accept the chancellors job and then go and ask him to resign and then think anyone will read his words without a huge dose of ‘wtaf’ I really don’t understand

And as for keeping an anti semite out of downing st. Wow

There is of course one political figure who will be loving this above anyone else. Putin.

For all Boris’ support for Ukraine he’s undermining that by being the gift that keeps giving to Putin.
