He must have been desperate to leave the country last week. If you have sinus issues that bad that you require an operation the first thing they advise you not to do is fly.

Makes you wonder what else the injunction blocked. Rumours online go from the long running rumour that she’s left him to an injunction covering a whole list of stories including keeping her name out of the Sue Grey report.

Is anyone mildly concerned over Dominic Raab making urgent decisions for the UK instead of the already mildly concerning thing of Boris Johnson making decisions when Johnson went under general anaesthetic?

you and tony are right (this once ), it’s almost not even a surprise, which in itself is a bit shocking. He just doesn’t think he needs to live by the same rules as everyone else

In terms of Shapps, he can do a decent excel spreadsheet apparently

The problem I’ve got with all ministers (potentially including shadow although will wait for nearer election as they might be holding back), but where’s the ideas, where’s the innovative policy etc etc ?

There’s just void and in the meantime we just keep dumping more tax into the hole and hoping things improve. I’m happy to pay more tax by the way, I just want to know it’s going towards solving problems and improving lives

Do I have to keep telling you that your tax pays for nothing.

If Raab had have won the leadership contest and become PM, made Boris his deputy, then had to have a minor operation leaving Boris in charge for 24 hours I recon we’d still be asking the same question.

I've seen you say this a lot and must admit I don't understand why. I accept it us probably down to my lack of knowledge/understanding. Genuinely would like to understand this. Is there an article/book that explains this point?

The Deficit Myth by Stephanie Kelton, very accessible explanation of it. Lots of interesting stuff on the web too, the Gower Initiative worth looking at: Navigating Our Site - The Gower Initiative for Modern Money Studies (gimms.org.uk)

Labour on the picket lines is exactly what the Tories want.

It's a great big trap that the Tories are desperate for them to fall in. It's so fucking obvious.

Starmer isn't stupid.

Exactly, the Tories have been sending lots of comms out and tweets the last few days calling it "Labours Rail Strike" and "Starmers Rail Strike", despite Starmer saying the didn't want them to strike at PMQs last week.

I support the right to strike, but it should he the last resort, especially when people and their livelihoods, health or safefy are dependent on you. From what I understand no proposal has been put forward yet for the Unions to reject so this is pre-emptive strike action.

This pretty much, it just gives the tories a chance to drill home their "Labour's Strikes". As the child of an RMT member I support the RMT and their actions but at the same time it would be madness to fall in to the trap the tories want to set.

Listening to Shapps tonight the man is an absolute cretin. Labour falling in line behind him really isn't a good luck.

Mark my words, if the rail companies go through with their plans there will be a major incident on the railways in the next few years as a direct result and Labour won't be in any position to criticise.

It's not a good look I agree. But it's far better than what would happen if Labour joined the picket lines.

They'd never live it down. It would be political suicide, whether you agree with it or not.

So why did Starmer make pledge No 7 of his 10 pledges if he had no intention of implementing a word of it?

Political suicide
he's hardly Mr Popular and people including his own side don't know what he stands for. It would probably do him a favour to actually show that he does stand for something.

I know you'd much rather a Labour leader that says all the right things but never gets in power, but the rest of us would quite like to have a Labour government.

It's not a great luck but the vast majority of people will never now unless the allow the tories to ramp it up

Sadly politics in 2022 is largely not falling into traps set down by a government that can't govern anymore and can only try and stoke a culture war as their only hope.

No I haven't.

And I fully support these strikes.

But getting Labour to publicly support them is such a blatant Tory trap.
