I mean to be fair to Boris there’s a crisis every day, so there’s bound to be some correlation.

I’ll give it to the Tories, they’ve played a blinder on this conveniently ahead of next weeks by election in Wakefield. I fully expect them to hold onto this seat listening to interviews with local residents on the news.

I think the Tory candidate admitting he’s a bregretter, admitting that the Brexit campaign was a tissue of lies, admitting he’d support a second referendum and he would be voting rejoin didn’t help.

This Symmonds story is equal parts disgraceful and unsurprising.

We elected a man totally without morals or ethics as PM all in the name of a policy that would damage the country for decades. What a deeply stupid country.

You could say this about every current minister I suppose, but what is the point of Grant Shapps?

Just sits there blaming everyone but himself for something happening on his watch while doing absolutely nothing about it

Apparently the government has taken the right away from the operators to negotiate with the unions meaning that the only people that the unions can negotiate with is the Ministry of Transport and Grant Shapps. But they’re refusing to meet with the unions.

you and tony are right (this once ), it’s almost not even a surprise, which in itself is a bit shocking. He just doesn’t think he needs to live by the same rules as everyone else

In terms of Shapps, he can do a decent excel spreadsheet apparently

The problem I’ve got with all ministers (potentially including shadow although will wait for nearer election as they might be holding back), but where’s the ideas, where’s the innovative policy etc etc ?

There’s just void and in the meantime we just keep dumping more tax into the hole and hoping things improve. I’m happy to pay more tax by the way, I just want to know it’s going towards solving problems and improving lives

You shouldn't be surprised, Johnson has recruited the most inept group of cabinet ministers in history. Employed only as they sycophantically back him up unreservedly, and because they offer zero challenge to his position.

Nadine Dorris FFS, we need to privatise Channel 4 even though it costs the tax pay the net sum of ZERO and invests in British independent film maker, just because Channel 4 news dares to ask uncomfortable questions. Its all part of a phoney culture war.

You could go on through all of them.

Numerous cancelled trains from where I live in to Manchester today due to DFT controlling the rail service and giving us a sign of things to come.

Full solidarity to the RMT workers this week despite the personal inconvenience it causes me.

It does make me laugh when people say we need to move on from partygate so the government can get on with governing. The next Boris has done something gate is and will always be just around the corner, between the skeletons in his cupboard that are still clearly waiting to come out and his continuing behavioural issues they’ll always be something.

Isn't that the test to get the job these days? To pin the blame on everybody else but themselves.

Trouble with 'innovative policy' is that it's always met with scepticism and cries of how bad it will be, and with people being naturally wary of change you just end up getting the same rehashed shite that's never worked before under a new name so people feel comfortable.

That's why right wing parties do so well - they keep things familiar.

Isnt innovative policy exactly the type of things Corbyn proposed who you scoff at? I mean Starmer Reeves and Nandy are real innovators aren’t they?

As an aside the rise of Farage was the opposite to retaining the status quo wasn’t it?

Farages whole thing was “didn’t it used to be better? Let’s go back to that”, so no, not really.

I don't remember scoffing at Corbyn. It was more how they would be taken by the general public, which is basically the point I was making here. I felt quite a few of his ideas were good, just he was trying to change too much too quickly to appeal to most of the general public.

Seems to be because the genuine question is if it isn’t the Secretary of State for Transport job to get involved with a dispute with a publicly owned body to keep the transport network moving then what is his job?

This is the same Secretary of State for Transport who came up with a 9 point response to P&O that urged the nation to boycott P&O, for the P&O boss to be sackin support of P&O employees job’s. He didn’t mind getting involved in that dispute despite it being immeasurably less damaging to the UK economy.

Seems his job is to generate headlines. Even if they do contradict themselves on a regular basis.

I see barristers are going on strike over the lack of legal aid funding and it’s effect on the backlog of cases. Nothing to do with Dominic Raab.
