Not sure who you’re lumping in with Le Pen either as another party with her values to make it up to 45% let alone 50%. I would assume the French Republican Party but they’re a centre right party not far right and unlike Le Pen very much pro EU and pro NATO so nothing like Le Pen.

...And I wasn't as much "lumping" anyone in with Le Pen other than pointing out that the 2 main nationalist parties got 22% (left wing) and 23% (right wing) ...so they polled 45% compared to Macrons 27% in R1. Don't know too much about the fringe parties that made up the rest.....I think the far(er) right party were 4th with about 7% vote.

Ah okay, that makes more sense. Although third in the first round was a left wing party and only just behind Le Pen with 22% of the vote so almost 50% of the initial vote did go to the left from those 2 parties alone. Think I’m right in saying most of the smaller parties are left also so in reality the majority of the vote went to the left and that was reflected again in the round 2 results.

I see Rachel weird Kier Starmer voice Reeves has insulted 10m people that voted Labour in 2019 by saying she's glad they didn't win. As remarked earlier in this thread, I live in a very very tight marginal but Labour in current guise can absolutely get to fuck if they think they're getting my vote at the next GE.

Corbyn wasn’t the right man to lead the country just like Johnson isn’t but for differing reasons, Starmer sits in the middle and makes him more electable and he is far more statesman like than the current buffoon. I am a Labour member and very happy with Sir Keir and believe he will win the next election.

I mean he’s 59 and only been an MP for the last 7 years after having a distinguished career as a lawyer and QC for the previous 30 years. The very definition of a career politician.

I didn't vote for them in the first place. The choice in 2019 was between Labour and all the chaos that has unfolded. But the current shadow cabinet seems quite content with the election of the Tories in 2019, so, i'm sorry but I am not now voting to remove them cos people like Rachel Reeves have got their choice of leader on board.

Reeves' comments are in reference to Corbyn's antisemitism and NATO stance. At no point does she say she's glad Johnson is Prime Minister or that she's glad the Tories won the election. Quite the opposite.

Probably wasn't the cleverest thing to say but people are totally misreading them and a lot of red wall voters would be glad to hear Labour distancing themselves from Corbyn - he's the reason a lot of them voted blue for the first time in their lives.
