At any other generation in politics this would be umpteenth time Boris Johnson’s political career would have ended for good. However…. Ooo look a flag.

Certainly explains why they all ran to Cummings defence with that ridiculous eye test bullshit.

Just a reminder that you do live in the UK not Italy where even they now have the right to look at the state of our countries leaders and shake their heads in disbelief/disgust.

People had to bury their families without friends and families just unbelievable

And that’s not even getting on to saying no parties happened which was a complete and utter bare faced lie

They can, he won't quit but this will drag him down at any election they have with him as leader which hurts the tories more

After a brief boost in the polls (because of Ukraine?) they were nosediving again and this will drag them down further still.

'No one cares about parties' though.

Just as a secondary piece. No one has asked yet if any have had multiple fines. Not that it really matters, can't see them lasting past midday tomorrow.

Trawling Twitter to find if any political journalists have been summoned to a press conference outside Downing St.

I don’t care if you think Boris must resign, or is just a top lad - it’s outright dangerous for this situation to drag on in a way that stops Parliament from doing its job on Ukraine where needed. Waiting it out to see which way the wind is blowing can’t be an option.

So the latest defence is that he was too thick to understand the rules that he created & imposed on everyone else... Interesting tactic.

Oh how silly of me for not knowing the detailed history of an agony aunt from 30 years ago.

This is poor, even for you. Long innings ahead for you trying to deflect from this.

I think this is a bigger issue than the fine itself. Didn’t Johnson say in the House that rules hadn’t been broken ? Now, you can potentially wriggle out of that if (you claim) stuff went on without your knowledge…gets a bit trickier if you’ve been fined for breaking those rules yourself !

If this is just a standard fine alone I don’t personally think it’s a resignation/sacking issue. They’ll continue to argue that they believe it was a work gathering…it’s only route left for them

It's again though, they set the bloody rules!

If you don't know the rules you're making yourself, then you're clearly not competent enough to be setting them.

My wife after her shift ends doesn’t go into the staff room for a drink with her colleagues and at the time idiot Johnson did it they weren’t even allowed to have more than one in the room at a time as they had to take their masks off. She also wouldn’t drink alcohol as she has to drive as most do, why they have wheeled out Fabricant he is a luntatic.

Not really. I just thought some public schools oik only known for master chef and his mother being quoted as a legitimate source for political observations was kind of funny - what is the point of the link
