On a related note I see Farage and the usual suspects are launching a new referendum party. They want a referendum on net zero. Their aims being end reliance on overseas gas imports and zero VAT on energy bills. Your link shows how futile the first one is and the second one we already had a referendum on which he apparently won.

Pretty clear renewables are the only route out of reliance on overseas gas. It’s also the only energy sector that’s growing, it’s also I believe the biggest employer in the energy sector and it’s already comparable on cost to fossil fuels and getting cheaper whereas fossil fuel is getting more expensive not least to it’s supply vulnerability. As we’re witnessing first hand.

Think the jury is still out on fracking. I used to converse awhile back with someone who could have stopped the Government dead in it tracks when it came to fracking. Very knowledgable bloke with connections.

He said fracking had many benefits, but there does still seem to be stuff that needs to be ironed out.

Need to stop the quick buck specialists from charging ahead and causing mayhem.

A bit like the latest crazy fad with driverless cars etc.

My question is what were those connections.

As far as I can see the downsides are huge and the benefits small in comparison. Especially when you consider other alternatives to invest in are available with much better long term prospects.

The only person he doesn't name is Farage who has made the war on net zero his latest campaign though I suppose he could come under the umbrella of GB News

Sounds like Bercow was an absolute wrongun, awful stuff. Looks like his career is done.

John Bercow: Former Speaker banned from parliament for life after bullying inquiry finds him guilty

The former Commons speaker has repeatedly denied the allegations against him, claiming: "I have never bullied anyone, anywhere, at any time in any way."

You see what’s happening in Ukraine… NATO exists in today’s world to stop Russia land grabbing parts of ex-Soviet republics and installing regimes that are pro-Russian.

If Russia can dominate Ukraine, then what chance do the likes Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia have?

Stop The War is a naive organisation. You have to be able to stand up to aggressors like Putin with force.

Just not if they haven’t signed a piece of paper of course. Then you strictly mustn’t stand up to him at all.

Can't say I'll miss him. I've always felt that his attitude towards others and that of Priti Patel's would be like two peas in a pod.

We are standing up to Putin.

The past cannot be undone, but NATO countries were far too slow to aid Ukraine in the build up to the invasion and perhaps should’ve sent soldiers to prove they were serious.

Two factors:

1) Frankly, there wasn’t the determination to engage in Ukraine before the invasion. Too much of Europe is reliant on Russian money, oil and gas to even provoke Russia. It’s no coincidence the powers most critical in the build up do the invasion we’re least reliant on Russia for energy.

2) I don’t think The West actually believed Putin would carry out this war and when he did, it was a collective wake up call of the threat of Russia. The invasion of Ukraine particularly exposed the German’s foreign and energy policies simultaneously.

Think of NATO like marriage, technically, all you’ve done to get married is sign a piece of paper after a ceremony followed by a party… but marriage is obviously more than that legally and grants extra perks than a relationship.

Truss is a dumb c**t, no doubt about it, but I believe that tweet (like so much of the entire sewer that is twitter) is a fake.....

These thick fuckers make enough real howlers without making shite up......the fakes give them a get-out......and the more fakes are spread around, the easier it gets for the liars, incompetents & criminals within our (and other) governments to shout "fake news" when its not.

True or fake is irrelevant really. The main point is it’s unbelievably believable. I’m not sure she’s even the worst person in the cabinet. It’s like they’re all on a quest to out Boris Johnson Boris Johnson. This government more than any other in the history of parliament is beyond a national disgrace.

The current lot make John Major look like Abraham Lincoln and Thatcher look like Mother Theresa.

I don't think they're even real Tories, they're basically the slightly more polite but equally stupid wing of UKIP.

Slightly less a bunch of c***s than Farage and his ilk.
It’s what happens when you allow a bunch of grifters to tell everyone that all their problems are the fault of foreigners, and not the establishment crooks that are in it for self-gain.

93% of people recognise Patel for the vile, hateful, piece of work she is.

" Only 7 per cent think that Priti Patel, the home secretary, wants to help Ukrainians come to the UK, according to a YouGov poll for The Times. "
