Lord Ahmed hasn't been a Labour peer for 8 years so not sure that is teh gotcha ESB thinks it is.

He is rightly in jail and should be in for even longer

I think Nadine Dorries realises if Johnson goes then it is a return to the backbenches and obscurity for her.

She's soon going to be the equivalent of Jayne Innes locally.

How did she become an MP in the first place?!! Who’d be stupid enough for vote for someone like her

I thought working class people from poor backgrounds - and a female as well - would be the type of person you’d like to see in politics?

…I’d prefer to have people who are actually competent. Saying this to a Johnson and current cabinet champion probably doesn’t mean a lot though.

Who cares what their background, class, sex, is as long as they are competent.

The way she reacted it’s like he was hiding round the corner and they had been busted

Yeah someone on Twitter said it was like they'd been shagging and she realised she'd just been caught out and immediately went on the defensive

You know it’s ridiculous when you go on the Daily Mail website and they inform you that the interview of a Tory politician is even worse than the short clip you’ve seen online.

Tories warn of a blitz of 'deeply unpleasant' attacks on PM's wife

Boris Johnson's political opponents are said to be preparing a 'brutal briefing campaign' to discredit his wife in a bid to topple his premiership as fresh storm clouds circle over Downing Street.
www.dailymail.co.uk

Remainer plot indeed.

I heard this on 5live on the way home and the report pissed me off.

It said there are calls for Lord Ahmed to be stripped of his title, fuck anything about his title, he only got 5 years.
Is stripping him of his title the big issue here? He's shound never be allowed out.

In terms of sentence. Of course guilty is guilty my friend. What would you expect a 16-17 year old sentence to be?

Well 5 years is an insult.
I'm not one of the flog em and hang em brigade but his victims are going to have to live with this longer than 5 years.

They absolutely have I understand that . I just wondered what a sensible person like you thinks is an appropriate sentence for a 16 year old? I think it feels very different when someone is found guilty as an older adult

We find children culpable at ridiculously early age in this country, (.think it might be 10,not sure), but he's eluded prosecution and obviously thought he'd got way with it.

He could have came forward at any time and pleaded immaturity as a mitigating circumstance but didn't because he thought he was in the clear, 5 years is an insult.

That’s true too although he did plead not guilty so unlikely to come forward with something he doesn’t think happened. You make a good point about not coming forward being a factor that should be taken into account. Thanks for helping me think about these things more fully

Think the age is 12 in the uk. As high as 18 in some countries and certainly our brains aren’t fully mature at 16 but I’m no expert in any of these areas

I’m sorry you’re right it’s 10. Although 10-14 they have to be shown not only they did it but that they knew it was wrong.

As heineous as the murder of James Bulger was, gangs of adults chasing the police van with those toe rags in never sat easy with me.

There's a lot if grey areas in these discussions

Stand corrected, it used to be 8 in Scotland. Currently 10 in England.

The history of it is interesting as a whole separate subject.
