I'm not sure how old you are Jeff, but in my opinion the right honourable member for Finchley and the right honourable member for Chingford in the early eighties represent an absolute nadir for this country.

The current incumbents of power do however, run them a close second.

Agree except that Thatcher would have never sunk as low in terms of personal and staff conduct and would have handled the pandemic better + had the decency to resign if failing so badly.
But yes in the early 80s we had a callous government.

Just hearing about it on the last leg. Pictures of Boris drinking Spanish beer, no pictures of a cake and Rishi there drinking soft drinks. All from the official Downing St photographer.

Remember when Edwina Currie had to resign for telling the truth.

I heard this on 5live on the way home and the report pissed me off.

It said there are calls for Lord Ahmed to be stripped of his title, fuck anything about his title, he only got 5 years.
Is stripping him of his title the big issue here? He's shound never be allowed out.

Burnham was one of the enablers of Corbyn too. Was one of the many who was bland, tired, uncharismatic in that leadership campaign. Would have won by getting the slightly more lefty than the others vote without Corbyn, but certainly wasn't inspiring.

Thing is, Ed Milliband has improved his delivery no-end since standing down as leader, but there's no cry for *him* to be brought to the fore for any campaign. Surely Rayner can do anything Burnham would do?

Agree about Burnham, however, he has definitely found his voice as Manc mayor and comes across as a more credible option than when he was a MP and in the leadership campaign. Rayner is useful to have around/on tv etc when she can almost say or do as she pleases but she couldn’t do that as leader of opposition

Starmer has some decent communicators in shadow cabinet to be fair which may offset his lack of personality (I don’t see that as a big an issue as many - people will be happy with a bit of dull, boring and competent after current chaos)

Possibly but I think hes a better (more considered) communicator. I might be wrong but I think hes resisted talking about ‘Tory scum’…although probably alludes to the same thing. Either way I think Grendals right, he doesnt appear to want job and/or it’s not really available so all kind of irrelevant

So we're currently relying on a PM whose position was made more perilous by a photo taken by a photographer he himself hired and who sends Nadinne Dorries out to defend him to out wit Putin?

Nothing to worry about there

I think Nadine Dorries realises if Johnson goes then it is a return to the backbenches and obscurity for her.

She's soon going to be the equivalent of Jayne Innes locally.
