You frothed over some people not wearing masks at a party last week when they weren't breaking any rules.

Yet multiple parties that did actually break the rules you are perfectly fine with.

Funny that.

Steve, should we concern ourselves more with aggressive language that isn’t even profanity or things like ‘let the bodies pile high’, ‘Operation Last Gasp’ and so on coming from the PM?

Johnsons used inappropriate language but he’s not on here BSB so I can’t tell him what I think

The language PVA used for what are ministerial staff was way over the top. None of us know them or what this ‘party’ might have been. You might think it’s ok, I don’t

Ps If the language isn’t really that bad feel free to call someone you don’t know vile scum in the street and see how you get on.

Over the top?!

These pricks literally killed thousands of people with their incompetence
Then broke the very rules they set
While the rest of us followed them, meaning some people couldn't say goodbye to loved ones before they died
Then they laughed about it
Then they lied about it

And a few derogatory words on an Internet forum is over the top? Sorry Steve, I like you and your posts but that's ridiculous. No wonder they keep getting away with it if that's the reaction!

And yes it was a big group travelling in for a party. There were invites and awards and secret santa.

If youd directed the comment at decision makers/ministers I would’ve thought it was a bit OTT but would’ve ignored it. We’re talking about ministerial staff, most of who were probably working under horrific pressure last year (like many others in the normal world I appreciate). As I said earlier I don’t agree with the drinks/parties but calling anyone who went attended vile scum, come on ?!

They attended a party that was not allowed whilst people could not visit relatives that died alone….. I think it’s relatively reasonable don’t you?

I know plenty of people who broke rules at one stage or other to varying degrees. None of them are vile scum. I know they don’t work for government but most/all of these are staffers so have no real influence on government policy. If it was Johnson, Whitty, Vallance, Hancock etc out partying last Xmas maybe you could argue using that language, I wouldn’t personally but would let it slide

It wasn't aimed at the general party goers (they're just a bunch of dickheads for going).

It was aimed at the ministers and in particular the cabinet ministers and PM.

The ones who wrote the rules. Then broke them. Then lied about it.

I don't think vile scum is strong enough for them.

It’s treating the electorate with contempt and disdain, the arrogance in thinking that rules don’t apply to you is shocking. Don’t be a c**t - follow the rules and do your bit. Thinking you are above it does make you a bit of a scum bag.

It was for the crime of not saying hello first on the way to the bus and so being ‘unfriendly’. Then resorting to calling people twats in public as a sign of how ‘friendly’ you are.

Since I called her out on it she’s not said a word. Mrs BSB genuinely still anxious about it though.

Does Starmer not need a coalition with the SNP to ever get elected now as I cannot see Labour getting a foothold over the border?
I’d give Labour that chance now if ahead in England and Wales but I can’t see it without Scotland.
Anyone else got other ideas?

Rather than go cap in hand to the SNP he’s better off trying to take as many seats off them as he can. Any talk of a coalition with an anti UK party will cost more votes than it’s worth. They won’t get close to the pre-2015 levels but they could feasibly get double figures with the right messaging.

Alternatively he could pin his hopes on flipping 120 seats in England and Wales

PM Boris Johnson took part in No 10 Christmas quiz last year

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer says it appears Boris Johnson has breached Covid laws at the event.

Didn’t need Scotland last time. And no need for a coalition anyway. No way the SNP are bringing down a Labour govt and keeping their support b

Knives are clearly being sharpened, it's just a matter of time.

Depends if they want to keep him as a meat shield to take some of the blame for Omicron, Brexit etc then bin him off.

Don't think they can take that risk though with the damage he's doing to the party and the polls

As it's not near an election they're probably not too bothered right now to damage at the polls, so they'll try and pin as much of it on his as possible before moving on.

I don't have a hat in either party, I don't believe a word politician's say. Labour and tory are different sides of the same coin.

Furthermore, I knew the newspapers have agendas, and tried to push their side but I believed it was based on truth, but the outright lies they continue to push of a certain case has opened my eyes to them too.

We deserve so much better then we have.

Agree with this unless maybe it’s a ‘go now or we will make the decision for you’ and it’s done under health/family reasons.

This whole situation has snowballed from what could’ve been a ‘ill look into this’ and returning to say there were team gatherings after work with colleagues who already work together so no increased risk of additional spread. ‘With hindsight these shouldn’t have taken place and we apologise for offence caused’.

Not ideal but probably done.

But instead the belief that you can lie your way out of everything and evidence won’t pop up from somewhere ?! I personally have more of an issue with the response (the lies, the snide comment from R-M) than the actual act...total lack of judgement or acknowledgement as to how this looks to the public

It’s also a question of election timing which let’s be honest is all the Tories are ultimately bothered about. What we’ve seen from them in this and other debacles comes from a belief of impunity because the majority is so large and the opposition so feeble while the general public tends not to be bothered with what goes on in Parliament.

He hid in fridges and prorogued Parliament but got away with a great majority because of a 3 word sound bite. You get the politicians you deserve

It's pretty obvious where the next election is going and what argument will be played out, Labour voting with the government uncritically on every single lockdown measure will explode back in their faces.

His whacking majority mainly came because the clueless idiots in labour denied the public a general election

Their strategy is always a disaster. Who votes for a party who itself doesn’t think it’s capable of government?

Now all starmer cares about is a party with some games and forensically crawling through if the police should investigate - he’s an idiot and now is ensuring the legislation goes through next week despite he saying he doesn’t agree with it and 80 Tories going against it as their constituents don’t want it

Or, to put it another way, they are avoiding playing party politics at the expense of public health and instead are siding with the government to save lives.

There are many, many things you can criticise Labour for, but backing life saving measures is not one of them.
