I agree that having a party was obviously wrong but if this was a group of young(ish) people that had been working together anyway and met after work*, I’m not got to hang them for it.
I say that as someone who was on their own last year and changed my Xmas plans but I did that as much through my own common sense about what was risky for higher risk family members rather than any rules.
Am I happy these parties happened, no, is the lying about them acceptable, not at all (and there should be repercussions) That type of language is well over the top though.
*if it was a massive group all travelling in for a big party I might change my view

I disagree - it’s people like Phillips and Streeting who think they are entitled and untouchable, and this empowers people of a similar ilk. Rayner has many faults but that’s not one of them.That’ll continue while the likes of Rayner are in positions of power
