Probably how the people who's kids have been blown up, starved to death or shot at while queuing for food would describe what Israel has been up to since.

Well they were celebrating in the streets when the Terrorists commited the attrocities in Israel, i have little sympathy for them. They wanted Hamas and this is what was been brought on themselves.

Er...no? As this is just a fraction of the economy - but so called principles in the real world (which you seem to not live in) are never going to come before jobs and revenue for industry - its life - its the real world

So called principles mostly just being opposition to attempted genocide. That’s all.

Tell that’s to Hamas who hid weapons in schools and hospitals. They need wiping off the face of the earth.

Its a commercial market to sell arms - we are part of it. Governments do not really care if money is there to be made. Just get into the world as it actually is.

History will remember who stood on the side of genocidal tyrants more than it will remember the British deficit in 2025.

To be clear, the decision to go to war in 1939 was made in the full knowledge that it would likely bankrupt the country and cost it the empire. Entering into a neutrality pact or even alliance with Germany would have made much more financial and colonial sense. The ‘grown ups’ of the time argued that the likes of Churchill were pure war mongers who would bring the country to ruin.

As tempting as it is to call all who disagree with putting cash above ethics children, it’s not going to change my mind that being in league with Israel is a stain on the country.

Most people on here want peace for the vast majority of innocent Palestinians and Israeli folk including hostages. It's Hamas and Israeli government that need to he brought to justice. Stop pretending otherwise.

I have done, almost from the start. Granted there are over 60,000 dead at the hands of IDF and most of Gaza has been destroyed by it, many more people are starving and others are being shot for target practice as they queue for food, but the hostages must be returned too.

You will see I called Hamas terrorists when this all started.

Their ability at this point to still refuse to say it is a genocide is incredible. It's not a good look to be on TV squirming out of giving an answer.

think there's a lot of people who feel the same. not sure the same campaign simply changed to 'don't let reform win' rather than 'don't let the tories win' is going to do it for them.

there will be a lot of people either not voting at all or voting for another party. important to remember that despite the landslide the number of votes for labour compared to previous elections was not a huge increase. The result was in part down to Conservative voters not turning out. If they return, and those who support Labour but lean left desert them, Starmer has a big problem.

Labour's popular vote was lower than 2019. It's probably another factor as to why it has so quickly struggled in the polls

They aren't sending stuff that is being used in Gaza or to kill Gazans.

Whether they should be sending anything at all to Israel is a different question.

Think it’s fair to say that if the main takeaway from your keynote speech at the government’s party conference is all about how to tackle a rival party with a handful of MPs, then you’ve lost control of the narrative.

Except the thing he's grasping is a huge ball of lead. Trying to appeal to the likes of people that Farage is after is a monumental waste of time - they aren't going to vote for Starmer. But at the same time he's alienating those that actually would.

I can't work out which idiots are telling him this is a good strategy.

Oh, a quick request too.

Has anybody heard anything about an incident at a school in Coventry today, likely Canley, in which an adult with a knife jumped over a security fence before being apprehended by police?

Someone earlier was telling me about it but they're not the most reliable source but I didn't just want to wholly dismiss it and so tried looking it up. I can't find anything doing a quick search of news sites and I'd have thought such an incident would have got a significant amount of press.

btw, I think many of you can guess what they said of the identity of said 'intruder'....

My reply to them was we can't know who they are until it's confirmed by police. Although so far I'm finding it impossible to even get an incident confirmed by police or media.
