It isn't. They announced a very weak attempt at an inquiry, and then scrapped it. It's pretty accurate.

There should be a national inquiry on this. No ifs, no buts.

Pointing out a headline, instead of talking about the issues is fucking pussy behaviour.

I think you will be the one that is angry when Reform come out with more votes than Labour at the next election. As long as people like you continue helping to sweep things such as grooming gangs under the carpet, the more votes they will get.

I will enjoy the game, thank you. I will be there, not playing goalkeeper for Labour on a politics thread.

Genuine question - are you aware there's been at least one national inquiry into this already, as well as local ones? I'll talk politics but I cba wading into what seems like a personal thing between you two.

Just to state the obvious, but opposing underage children getting groomed wasn’t a left-right issue last time I checked. Nobody on here opposes the perpetrators being brought to justice.

It is only a left/right issue when it involves people of certain demographics, which the former are scared to tackle. That falls into very easy and transparent behaviours such as arguing about a headline, rather than having the balls to discuss the topic at hand.

Pakistanis up to four times more likely to be behind grooming

National police scheme shares data on ‘group-based’ child sexual abuse that includes ethnic background of perpetrators
www.telegraph.co.uk

"Sir Keir has come under scrutiny for his handling of grooming gang cases while DPP. In 2012, he was forced to admit that a generation of vulnerable girls had been failed by the justice system under his watch in the CPS.

Earlier in January, Simon Danczuk, a former MP for Rochdale, a town blighted by grooming gangs of primarily British-Pakistani origin, claimed that a former chairman of Labour’s parliamentary party had warned him that drawing attention to the ethnicity of such gangs could harm the party’s electoral chances."

Since this time, the problem continues to get worse. So excuse me for saying, but it does not look very good when the current government are hiding away from it. There clearly has not been sufficient investigation and actions take into this. Anyone that think that there has been falls into the category from my opening statement most likely. At worse, well...

You've literally just quoted me but not replied to what I asked or what I said. If you actually want to talk about it, talk about it. You sound more interested in calling people pussies and talking like you're the most anti-grooming human in the whole wide world.

At the risk of repeating myself, nobody on here wants the perpetrators to get away with their crimes, regardless of their race or background. The slight bone I have to pick with you is that you seem to be keen on picking out Muslim criminals but are quieter on crimes of the far right.

Neither of you are willing to talk about the issue at all. You are talking in semantics and answering questions with questions. It started with a silly comment about a headline, but no one has made any further attempts to discuss the problem properly.

Do both of you agree that there is a problem with grooming gangs in the UK, particularly with members of the muslim demographic? Do you both think that the government is doing enough to tackle it?

I am happy to call out any crimes of this nature. I also think it is important to point out the deflections and sweeping under the carpet that goes on when it is people from a particular demographic, which is growing in this country and massively overrepresented in crimes of this nature. This deflection has been evidenced enough in this thread alone, so I think it is more than appropriate.

I don’t know if you have noticed, but Starmer has already completely alienated the Muslim vote, and to quote Simon Danczuk to make a point is absurd given he was suspended by the Labour Party for sending lewd texts to an under 18 - hardly the go to guy when you are investigating sexual offences.

Send the bastards to jail irrespective of what Sky person they are worship - there’s nothing uncomfortable in saying that or discussing it.

This idea that left leaning people overlook the crimes of Muslims is quite frankly bollocks.

The idea that the Labour Party are left leaning is also bollocks.

If your argument is that the Labour Party may be incompetent bullshitters then that I agree with.

It depends on what happens in the meantime, but I think it can be close. Labours polling has been on a steady decline since they were elected, so anything is possible really.

Not sure about that, the number of Independent, pro-Gaza candidates who either got in or took a big chunk of the Labour vote says otherwise.

It is a good point, although a slightly seperate concern which I would say is another reflection of the growth in muslim population in the UK which in many ways does not hold the values of the country as the number one concern. The whole talk recently about the airport in Pakistan is further proof of Labour trying to do what they can to win more votes from that demographic, so I guess your point proves mine as well.

Anyway, there is a football match on now. Going to enjoy it rather than argue in this thread. Hopefully we can get 3 points!

You want an inquiry. I'm aware there's been a lot already, and that people close to it are frustrated that instead of implementing the recommendations from main inquiry that reported in 2022, all the political noise is about repeating the process. What from your POV would be gained from doing it all again?

Inquiries shall be repeated until they produce just an A4 sheet of paper with “immigrants bad” on it.

I mean... this crossed my mind but that's the vibe from Musk, Badenoch and co. whose shouting seemed to kick this whole thing off. If Earlsdon's got ideas for what another enquiry might help with I'm all ears. It's not a subject I'm gonna pretend to have been close to or studious of in the past.

Easy to poke fun when you're talking about such a sensitive subject, but think this discussion has highlighted a lot of important questions like "What if it was all Muslims' fault?" and "What if a bump of cocaine could talk?"

You haven't answered my questions.

Do you think there is a problem with the Muslim community and these sorts of crimes? Do you think enough is being done about it?

In fact, all there is again is people poking fun at the issue rather than talking about it. If there is nothing to hide, then why not do a proper inquiry? To my knowledge, the original one hid away from this. I guess the answers would indeed highlight some issues with certain demographics and that level of being uncomfortable is the problem here.

We should be doing everything we can to tackle these issues.

Didn't see them, which is a problem you're gonna have if you insult people that are trying to talk to you. You also haven't answered mine either and being petty, I asked first. I'll give it a shot, though...

Yes, it's clear that in some places people from certain backgrounds were doing horrible f*cking things to kids. I won't assume they were practicing Muslims because I don't know.

You keep saying there should be a proper enquiry. We've had several, national and local. You keep saying stuff should be done. People who worked on the enquiries are annoyed more hasn't been done.

One likely reason why more hasn't been done, at least from stuff I've read, is that politicians are letting themselves be led by noise about more inquiries from people who probably know nothing about it.

Thank you for answering and engaging. I don't feel the outcomes of the inquiries, which have been selective at best, deliberately incompetent also if we are being kind, and the subsequent actions following have been anywhere near enough. This stuff is still going on at a major level.

It's pretty clear to me that the fear of being labelled racist is still playing a major part in it all.

More police for Cov, that's got to be a good thing.
You may have seen today’s announcement from the government about their investment in neighbourhood policing. We wanted to share how that will improve our neighbourhood policing here in Coventry.

Following the government's announcement today, the Chief Constable who successfully bid to the Home Office for 150 extra officers with the support of the PCC is now pushing on with recruitment.

He intends to deploy all 150 new posts across Neighbourhood Policing which is good news for all our communities.
