Have you raid the attachment or just looked at the first picture.

The tweet suggests that Rich Vichinchi is an imaginary individual and is based on a character from a board game I’ve never heard of.

My attachment shows he was the outgoing Chairman of NW Leicestershire District Consevatives 7 years ago.

In my view, that makes the original tweet bollocks as he is not a fictional character from a board game.

To think that I get accused of believing stuff on X.

I personally think it’s disgraceful anyone would suggest Reform UK would not be putting forward top-quality legitimate candidates…

Look at this upstanding gentleman for example…

I just can’t win, can I? I‘m a twat if I believe stuff, I’m a twat if I don’t.

I will argue that it least I have shown that I don’t just beliege everything I see and that I will put in a little effort to look a little further.

If tweet is a joke, what is funny about it?

Is this a joke as well? The clown delivering it would suggest it is.

As honest as the pre-election defence of winter fuel allowance turned out to be.

People like me weren’t supposed to miss wfa because the triple lock was due in April, Mines all gone already. Energy cap, council tax, general inflation, VED, tax on fuel for the car. But that doesn’t matter, I’m not a working person.

The worry is, it is entirely believable that decisions are made based in such quality statistics. I’ve seen it happen. Walk in to a meeting early, pick up the paper they are discussing, tell them the maths are wrong, they have a look and agree that the figures are wrong and proceed to continue the discussion and come to a decision based on the data they have already agreed to be indirect.

I'm old enough to remember when sickness benefit was paid at the exact same rate as unemployment benefit and there were very few claims for sickness benefit back then. It was also a lot easier to claim unemployment benefit than sickness benefit.

It was only after the Thatcher administration decided that long term 'sicknesss benefit' should easier to claim and be paid at a much higher rate than unemployment benefit that the number of claims for sickness benefit suddenly skyrocketed. Go figure.

Didn’t he say that in opposition and was specifically talking about the period of 2023-24 while the party in power was allowing council tax bills to go up by huge margins.

IIRC correctly the promise at the GE was that they’d cap rises by 5%. In other words he’s kept his promise by your own evidence.

So they claimed the figures had quadrupled but it's actually a 30% increase. Problem is people won't read past the headline so it will have the desired 'people claiming sickness are too lazy to work' effect.

Maybe a better idea would be to look at why it has increased 30% Obviously some of it will be the result of the pandemic. I know people like to act like covid never happened, isn't still a thing, and didn't really impact anyone but there's a lot of people who have been left with long term conditions they now have to manage, often with little support.

The other area that is increasing rapidly is mental health issues, especially amongst the younger generation who aren't as prepared to risk their mental health as previous generations possibly were. This has coincided with massive cuts to mental health services, don't have to be a genius to see a link there. If you want more people off benefits and in work then you need to address that issue. But addressing it would probably cost more per person than just having them on the sick so is there any genuine desire to resolve these issues.

Interestingly when ever there is trials of universal basic income the level of people who don't work remains pretty constant. So either the people who aren't working are unable to or if they are 'too lazy to work' there's not really much that's going to change that. I'm not convinced people just choose to work. I've had it suggested to me that I consider going on long term sick due to the impact working is having on my health. When I look at the amount I'd get it would be a matter of weeks before I'd be basically homeless and hitting food banks to survive.

I’m not making excuses for him. The link posted was incorrect, he never promised to freeze council tax except in opposition. His promise at the GE was to cap at 5%. Which ironically as someone else’s link has subsequently shown has been broken in the case of six councils. Your own personal evidence is that in your case he’s kept his word. By all means be angry that he hasn’t kept his promises to others but that isn’t what you were initially angry about, you were angry about a lie tweeted by a Tory.

The initial tweet is a lie. Kevin Hollinrake is quoting what Starmer said in opposition that he would have frozen council tax for the following period. At the GE he promised a 5% cap which has been kept with the exception of 6 councils as your own link shown. He has indeed broken A promise. Just not the one Kevin Hollinrake is claiming he made which is the one Captain D was upset about.

So easy to say these things in opposition.

Things said in opposition seem to have been better remembered than the manifesto. They ended not saying a lot during the election campaign for fear of dropping the "Ming vase". Was it the manifesto that was voted for or the promises of the last couple years in opposition which continued to echo and distort labour's true position?
