Why do you think the CPS had sat on their hands for 5 months? You can't be that facile surely? It's one of those situations where so much evidence which had already been disclosed publicly that they have got to be exceptionally careful about making sure there could be no claim there isn't a fair trial. Given how explicit the video evidence is, a jury is hardly going to have been influenced by having seen it months before trial. A quicker decision may have increased the chance of a fair trial. Criticising those in power in the past for doing fuck all and accepting those in power now doing fuck all seems to be a bit of a double standard. Bit like the difference between uneaten birthday cake and quaffed beer and curry.
Previous governments should have either accepted the recommendations and started implementation or made clear why not. For example, if a global crisis had interfered.
