Im going to generously assume you’re not laughing at my daughters medical needs, and just don’t understand that private medical insurance is taxed and the organisations can’t claim it back unlike private schools.

I'm laughing because you're a massive hypocrite. Basically.

Why not just use the NHS? Obviously think your kid's better than others who have to.

It is perfectly fine to go private if somebody else is paying for it

It been mooted a few times I think. Blair had some plan for rolling out medical centres which would have basically everything under A&E level under one roof but nothing ever really happened, well other than letting GPs massively cut their hours and get paid the same. But its all down to the fundamental issue of capacity isn't it. Anyone who has ever been to a walk in centre will tell you they aren't the answer as nobody is going to sit and wait for hours every time they need to see someone.

How much tax do you think I should be refunded for my doctors appointments? At the moment I have a minimum of 2 a month.

Quick look on a private GP comparison site shows the nearest one is in Leamington, compared to my surgery which is at the end of my road. Only opens office hours, but not for full days, and not at all on Thursdays. A face to face appointment is £140, but you can have 15 minutes on the phone for £66.

Only really seems suitable if you're either a) very rich, or b) only have to go once or twice a year.

And this really is the issue with private healthcare in a nutshell isn't it. They're only really interested in cherry picking off the nice and easy profitable job.

Blair’s GP contract has proved to be a bit of a disaster.

The nhs commissions all sorts of organisations to provide healthcare. Some are NHS Trusts, some are private providers. The latter represent additional capacity that can be purchased in a “spot market” basis. They get paid the NHS tariff. In reality it is still NHS care.

what annoys me is when people end up having to pay themselves because of a lack of capacity. The NHS should have to part pay to the tune if the NHS tariff, dentistry is a classic example currently.

Having worked in the NHS for a very long time before retirement, and paid hundreds of thousands in taxes over the years it is galling that I have had to go private twice to get sorted. Not my current predicament though.

Fortunately.

Because the NHS doesn’t offer to pay for flights home if my kids are abroad or hotels for me if she’s in long term again as I said. My youngest is under the care of neurology at BCH and I don’t want her stranded abroad if she requires emergency brain surgery again. I want her in the NHS!

I haven’t said you shouldn’t go private. I’ve said private schooling isn’t worth the money and you should pay tax on it just like I do on my medical insurance.

I’m not asking single mums to pay more tax so I can have money off like you. I can afford luxury goods.

Tell them to get on salary sacrifice....

By the way, school fees have always been taxed as benefit in kind too to employers. Had best get some vat on your private healthcare though.

Private healthcare pays IPT not VAT and it’s not reclaimable like VAT.

I’m not talking about your personal income tax.

As I understand it, to identify why the police didn’t take action earlier and hence bring the whole sorry saga to a close reducing the number of victims.

This is a retrospective inquiry, not a prospective one. No can kicking with this one. Labour had a very, very long time to think about what they might do if they won the election. They clearly couldn’t be arsed and decided to do things on the hoof. Schoolboy error I’m afraid. They should have been able to hit the ground running. They have managed half of that, they have hit the ground, Twats.

Hence my umbrage around inquiries, reviews and increasing Quangos.

I don’t consider myself far left but I’d much prefer the 109 recommendations being actions before looking again at past failings
It’s the classic simple answer and faux outrage that reform and musk and trump are guilty of time and time again
The tories are unconscionable with their approach having done fuck all from the report published in 2022
I know reform and x want to focus on the Pakistani Muslim aspect and it’s important this isn’t ignored but there’s so many other areas that are the same that I’m one for delivering on the 109 recommendations and then if necessary commissioning another report
It’s as if I’m guilty of raping and murdering myself
Cooper was raging in the house yesterday and I thought did bloody well
Starmer didn’t do so well but he’s not a natural communicator

not sure how the Pakistani Muslims are responsible for that but let’s take over the focus of everyone in the country to point the finger

Trouble is that there are those who suspect a cover up. It’s another one of those where it’s relatively easy to believe that ethnicity has played a role. I wonder how much longer before there is a charging decision in relation to the Manchester Airport incident. I’m sorry, but often when something walks like a duck and sounds like a duck - it is in fact a duck.

Spot on. If there's one thing that this Tory opposition can't lecture anybody about, it's failings in law and order.

They literally ran it into the ground, and did nothing at all, note, not a single thing, about the previous enquiry's findings.

This is straightforward dog whistle politics from a party who have lost their moral compass completely, and can't decide whether to join Farage or to fight him.

This is just paranoid nonsense and not an excuse to drive government policy. There are people who think 5G causes Covid, we don’t need an inquiry into it. All this stuff was covered in the Jay Inquiry.

I’m a sense he was if he knew they’d do fuck all about any of the findings it was an absolute waste of time
I can’t believe the Muscovites and Faragites and lowlifes can’t follow through with their thought processes
I know people have been deported for sex crimes from the place I volunteer at but it’s only started recently another thing where it was just too difficult for the tories to do rather than talk of doing
So we deport all those committing crime back to where exactly? Most are British born but that’s ok we deport them and then we deport all their families how the fuck do we do that?
who will do that?
how much will it cost?
This government increased staff at the home office and were accused of being top heavy and misusing money. How else do you do it! Just go to Rochdale and ask for names and put people on coaches
It’s fuckin mad
I’m glad I’m not 20
Reform make sense and debate your ideas please cause at the moment it’s madness

Christian church cover ups have been appalling.

The grooming gangs were Muslims weren't they, so those poor girls lives were shit because of them.

I did get cross with a fellow patient who was exclaiming quite loudly that all the housing being built was for fucking immigrants. I don’t think he had realised that our care was being delivered by said immigrants who were probably invited to work at that hospital ( following an international recruitment programme).

Thanks Duffer, I hadnt seen that. Will try to keep an eye or ear out for the trial, hopefully it will be hard to miss. Just can’t rely on the BBC these days to report anything not aligned with their agenda. As your second link says, most if this stuff has disappeared from the media, for some obscure reason.

It wasnt necessarily two tier policing - they had done their jobs, completed the investigation n submitted the case to the CPS who seem to have sat on their hands - for FIVE months. Ffs

Stark contrast to the number of rioters tried and imprisoned.

Not two tier policing, more like two tier justice ( using the word loosely).

The rioters posed an immediate and widespread security risk that needed to be contained. The Manchester Airport guys didn't. They were policed accordingly.

Nor me but it is pretty much what they are saying isn’t it I just think it would be more honest to say and do what they are asking others to do.
That’s all and of course I really don’t want them to hence my abhorrence at the riots
