Once I have lost the next 2 stone I’m very interested in starting up some weight loss coaching as a side project. Would start by offering it as a free service to a few people.

Or as you say I could just go direct to the internet

Id perhaps wait until you’ve kept it off for a couple of years. That’s usually the problem people run into (personal experience and the research talking).

Yeah, the statistics on that are pretty damning, anywhere from 80-95% put it back on.

If I can be in that 5-20% of people who keep it off long term though, I can see it getting a fair bit of interest.

Will be a punishment if they take away the single person council tax discount. Its pretty justified.

Means they probably will. Better off living for free in a 4 star hotel and working cash in hand.

Would get free dentist , eye test and prescriptions as well. Bonus. (Paid for all of them in the last month)

Best of all I could just act a c**t and nobody will say anything because they will be far right.

Khan says to let people released from prison jump to the top of the housing queue.

Its really like being at school where if a kid doesn't shit themselves for a week or punch the teacher they get rewarded.

It's about the same level as 'peer' nations if that really means anything. Oddly, despite the very low rates in some of the former eastern bloc countries, there is no clamour for major companies to HQ there. It's probably over stated in terms of a country's competitiveness. More important are a stable political system and a well educated workforce, and English speaking helps too.

Yeah, don’t disagree with a lot of that, it will always be a mix of things that attracts businesses. My point was that I don’t think increasing Corp tax higher than the 25% would be beneficial, especially since Brexit and being on Ireland’s doorstep. Funny you say about Eastern Europe, I hadn’t looked at tax rates before but know Poland economy has been growing really well recently

Just on about if somebody goes to work and wants to live a comfortable life they are going to end up targeted because of this made up 22bn hole they keep going on about.

However if Ukraine or somebody ask, give them what they want. Pensioners? They can get to fuck.

Went out to a pub last night for food, and I’m watching what I eat to a degree at the moment. The caloric value of some of the meals on offer was staggering. I’ve always thought there’s a gap in the market for a genuine ‘healthy-eating’ type restaurant/takeaway where you can get meals that aren’t a garden for 500-700 calories per meal.

The meal preps I’ve made for the last year are all in that range and don’t taste like diet food.

Eating healthy is hard if you go out.

Price wise. Its cheaper to eat junk food at home as well. Unless you're really planning and bulk cooking.

It's actually crazy. I'm also on a calorie counting and fitness schedule and eating out is insane.

For example, somewhere like Slug & Lettuce you can get a veggie burger and fries - it is 950 calories (seems like a lot), then you realise the fries are an extra 450 calories on top of that and weren't included. That's 1400 calories on a meal that doesn't even fill you up.

At home I can make a stack of homemade chips, do a double burger, throw cheese on, make a decent salad, and it won't hit 1000 calories.

No wonder the country is struggling with its weight. How can this food have so many calories in for next to no substance? It is ridiculous.

I think the NHS would be very pleased to hear that they are not expected to cure every societal ill tbh with you. They've heard all the other stuff a million times before. He's also said this reform is being carried out with no extra money, where is it coming from? Nothing is free.

I plan our dinners religiously, do one ‘big shop’ from the butchers each month and then the general week-to-week shopping tends to be about £30. Think a lack of planning meals is one of the biggest downfalls around; you end up just buying any old shit without a plan, then your freezer is full of it for a year.

Menus in restaurants here will say ‘adults need 2000 calories a day’ while selling main courses that have close to if not more than that. Mental

Probably similar to Bridget Phillipson’s plan to save teaching with platitudes instead of extra resources or schools funding

I’ve thought for a bit there should be some way of saying things have to be sold in normal human portion sizes. Nothing stopping the fatties ordering two portions but then at least it’s explicit.

What would help most is to allow people with compulsions the ability to block transactions with certain companies, eg Deliveroo, McDonald’s, Domino’s etc

I don't think it's eating out that is the issue, it's what people do throughout the week at home that will be doing the damage.

If you cook your own meals with fresh ingredients you can eat well without stacking the calories.

The freedom of speech etc internet, I did give the answer at some point ,sentences etc, although I agree in principle that they're too stringent, but it's still going on both sentencing and the peddlers of division?

It's a big if though isn't it. Even things like packed sandwiches are more calorific than if you'd made similar at home

It gives the wrong impression and makes it seem simpler than it is. It’s emphatically not the thing to tell someone trying to lose weight.
