The inevitable 'another hazard will take its place'. Laughable halfwittery.
The car park and pothole is pure Daily Mail nonsense. It could apply to any large vehicles (and there are plenty of SUV's) turning up en masse in the same place and time. That doesn't happen.
Anyway EV's are getting smaller and batteries lighter. The Citroen e C3 is lighter than a Golf.
Personally I'd take a pothole repair than polluting my kids and leaving them with a climate problem.

Whatever happened to acid rain. It’s a wonder there are any trees left on the planet.

Not sure you switching to an EV is going to do much for the kids.

Me personally or a few hundreds of millions individual drivers?
I think most science suggests the latter makes a significant difference.
Unless it's all made up by the WEF and George Soros.

Are you talking just the fumes from driving or or including what it takes to make and charge it? Then changing battery.

Imagine all the coal it would need for the electricity to charge all of China's cars

Do you have an EV?
Do you have an air source heat pump?
Do you have solar panels?
Have you been on an aircraft in the past two years?

So basically you have no idea so you resort to halfwittery.
And it’s not even laughable.

I never get the 'ha you're not deliberately living in abject poverty therefore you can't want a better world' argument, whatever the subject.

Are those Questions anything to do with living in abject poverty?
Anewer - no they are not. They are entirely reasonable questions to ask of those who are expecting others to answer yes, yes, yes and no to them,
To be clear, my answers to those questions are no, no, no, yes.
I expect this time next year that the answers will be all no, as they would have been 12 months ago.
I also eat meat .

Having thought about your response for an additional second or two, you must think that having an EV, an air source heat pump and solar panels will result in you living in abject poverty, such that air travel will be unaffordable.

You must be an Ed Milliband ITK.

If somebody is going to take a “holier than thou” attitude, guess what.

They need to be holier than me and thou,

It's the general expectation that you can't have a view without living the life - the most extreme usually do see climate protestors expected to live in a hollowed out tree trunk, or a full-scale socialist expected to live in a mud hut and give all their money to rebels in Equitorial Guinea before they can have a view about inequity in the world.

Now FWIW I share some of your concerns about electric cars - I think we're going up the wrong path because of resources needed for batteries, the forcable dumping of perfectly capable cars and the energy that costs etc. I'd also suggest that hydrogen is not developed as much is because it's more complex and car manufacturers ultimately want to make a profit, so they head for EV as that's where the legislation's going, much as it did for diesel.

But that's just it, change won't happen without a big stick from government really. I actually think solar panels is a great idea for energy on housing, have looked into it myself but... the initial cost is so eye watering that I just can't see myself doing it. Does that mean I think the idea is wrong? No. Does that mean that I think the world would be better off if we all did do that? Yes.

But not doing it myself is a bit different to outright dismissal of ideas.

Laughable. I hope its coming out of the foreign aid budget.
I’m sure it will impact hugely on the Albanians.

Fair point.

Whilst we're on it, what is the number of foreign criminals in our prisons?

Seems fair enough to me

A funding package of up to £84 million will be rolled out by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office over the next 3 years to address the factors that drive people into small boats.

Millions migrate every year due to conflict, climate change, and humanitarian crises, putting a strain on host communities and leaving vulnerable individuals open to exploitation.

The funding will support projects across Africa and the Middle East to improve education and employment opportunities as well as initiatives that will help to build resilience to global shocks like conflict and climate change, which are 2 of the leading causes of irregular migration.

We've had 5 years* of the Tories absolutely fucking about, getting nothing done, spending more time firefighting their own party than doing anything constructive for the country.

Labour have come in and already made impressive changes and policies that will positively impact people's lives.

Considering we were told they had no plan it seems they in fact had lots of plans.

Some people will never be happy and will never give them any credit, but it's been a good start.

*obviously they were in for 14 years, but the last government were particularly useless at getting anything done.

all week I've been hearing the prisons are at literal breaking point, and today its even being suggested that they're so fucked it was the reason for the election to be called unexpectedly but we've got room to put people protesting against lack of action against climate change inside for years.

"Projects" like PPE?

Spend it on processing and get a better system in place.

It won't do a thing.

No it isn’t. The disruption they caused and the money they cost - if someone had stolen that much money they would have expected jail time. Hopefully it will act as a deterrent unlike the tea and biscuits they usually get from law enforcement.
