I said a while ago that having met the Labour candidate for Rugby I was going to vote Labour (have never not voted Labour tbh)...the deal had been 100% sealed now having received a letter from Sir Kier Starmer personally thanking me as one of Britain's older generation for the hard work and contribution I've made to the country... he's promised to look after me and my fellow "Retirees".
I'm framing the letter .

The problems of predicted under capacity seem to be because of plans to use HS2 rolling stock on existing lines. So don’t do that.

That is one of several problems, I don’t know the details but then surely you’re not having any straight through services from the South to the North?

That's refreshing. Our state pension is pitifully low as it stands, if your paying rent into retirement your going to struggle, even if your a home owner £12k is not enough to pay bills, heat your house and have any kind of reasonable standard of living.

The letter states "With my fully costed and fully funded plans the state pension will increase year on year with the triple lock over the whole parliament".

Interesting how your obsession with council tax overrides anything else of concern

I think Ive mentioned council tax once - to you - reminding you that increases are permanent (being under political control) whereas interest rates are temporary and down to the independent Bank of England - the independence being introduced by Gordon Brown.

No he never mentioned occupational pension schemes Malc.
I like many thousands of others got rinsed on a frozen pension in the 1990's by a snake oil salesmen from Allied Dunbar though...cost me many thousands of pound's, eventually got a £2k compensation ,the pension deposit would have been better if I stuck under my mattress tbh...I think it was Thatcher that allowed that type of thing to take place

That’s shit but so is the effect that Brown’s taxation of pension schemes had. Labour also introduced the lifetime savings allowance, again shit.

Tories changed the measure for increases in additional state pension from RPI to CPI, which meant public sector pensions followed suit despite years of the handbook saying that they would rise by RPI.

Actually, they are all shit.

The Green Party getting absolutely pulled apart on Panorama.

Seemingly focused on wealth inequality abroad rather than sorting out what's going on at home. Have a long term policy of 'a world without borders'. Good luck with that.

It's a bit odd that members of other parties are being ridiculed on here, but absolute silence over the behaviour of some members of some other certain parties. One from the Greens is still on the ballot paper having likened Hamas to the French Resistance in the Second World War. Another called for Israel to be wiped out.

Like this thread, they're completely out of touch with most people in society and lack any real common sense.

Been out canvassing etc for 10 days (in Dudley)

People not very enthused. In order of frequency, issues raised are ...
Need a change
NHS
Cost of living
Energy bills
Immigration
Crime
Potholes

Of those who expressed a view ...
One Conservative, 3 or 4 Reform, 1 libdem, 20 odd Labour but ...
Roughly 30 per cent undecided.
The tory here had 52per cent of vote and big majority in 2019

Too close to call it yet

Shock new poll confirms Reform lead over Tories despite Farage’s Putin comments

Nigel Farage’s comments about Putin and Ukraine do not appear to have dented Reform’s popularity according to a major new poll of 10,000 voters

Hearing a lot about the undecideds in the last few days. If they still don't know who they want to vote for isn't there an above average chance they just won't bother voting?

You’ll find it funny no doubt but this is the long term vision I have for the world also. I also know it has nil chance of happening in my or probably any lifetime.

There are too many countries in the world, too many people trying to find ways they’re different from other people just by birthplace.
