In bits?

I don’t see why. Everyone fully expects Labour will finish up with 450 plus seats from a roughly 40% share of a 60% turnout.

No question the Conservatives deserve to be annihilated. Unfortunately the average Brit doesn’t deserve what’s coming their way in the coming years.

But hey, plan accordingly.

The article says:

"Voters are turning away from the two major parties in a huge break with the trend seen in the 2019 general election campaign"

They are turning away from one of the major parties, not both of them.

It's a joke of an article.

It isn’t - the Lib Dem’s are also rising and it’s also not just percentage it will be turnout

I think it’s highly probable more people will have voted for Corbyn in 2017 than Starmer in this election as overall turnover will be down.

It’s very obvious you’ve just become an echo chamber to Shmmeee and the slavish devotion to Starmer and will defend him against the blindingly obvious.

Haha amazing.

Tories will have a significantly lower vote share than the last election - true or false?

Labour will have a higher vote share than the last election - true or false?

Tories and Labour combined having a lower vote share, given your answers to the above, is wholly down to the Tory vote collapsing - true or false?

I don't care what happened in 1983 the article is an absolute farce and framed abysmally.

And the irony of you saying something about me and another poster as you leap to defend your buddy Sick Boy.

We are due to be paying an extra £2500 a year on our mortgage courtesy of this government, so a bit more council tax is the least of our concerns.

I find it quite interesting on a sociological level. I’ll preface this by saying that, by and large, I can see the point around perceived ‘lack of principles’ but there are so many external factors which have changed, and is it not better to have a pragmatist in charge than an ideologue?

My hope (which tbf went unrealised under Blair!) is that the first term is competent to repair years of chaos, and the following term ofers something a little more progressive to fix things.

FWIW I don't. There'll be apathy / people who decide they don't want a Labour government no matter what / people who'll revert to their safe traditional vote come election day.

If there's a majority of 50 that's an excellent result far beyond what would normally happen in such elections.

But it didn't happen after Blair. In fact it's only Thatcher who went more radical after a first term. Blair was more of the same and wasted an opportunity really.

Yes. And had we allowed it to revert to the variable rate without seeking another fixed term, it would have been over £7000 extra a year.

The Reform emergence will prevent that now but you’re going to be sorely disappointed when it turns out that Starmer isn’t as popular as you claim.

It kind of needs to. We managed to implement the NHS in a war torn, bankrupt country-it is a political choice not to bother with major surgery this year.

Have Labour actually won anyone over by this lurch to the right? Or at least, any more over than they’ve pissed off? Seems to me this election will be the country’s anger at the Tories rather than anything Labour have done.

Labour and Tories would ‘both leave NHS worse off than under austerity’

Analysis by leading experts the Nuffield Trust reveals that main parties’ manifestos would squeeze health spending

They need annihilating for a) Austerity, b) £billions funneled to cronies via wasted PPE and c) Rwanda.

They alone *should* mean 10-15 years in opposition.

When you add in everything else (The list is endless) they should be finished completely but I doubt it

Yeah and more modern times, not sure I agree with the method, but Blair did pull the NHS up immeasurably after Tory neglect - ended up a system to be proud of again.

I'll try and be as fair as possible, cause on this thread I imagine you'll get a pat on the back from most people, but with immigration I think you're extremely wide of the mark here.

There's many places in the UK now that are minority British. That's the first point. Laugh at Farage all you want, but he has some valid angles that leftists continue to shy away from. Why do you think someone with next to no serious attributes is now beating our current government of the last several elections in the polls? 140,000 here on dependent visas at it stands. How is that sustainable at all? That's just the surface. Our policy on immigration only does one thing; drive resentment towards those that want to come here and genuinely contribute and make the country a better place. As I said, I know my post will be hounded on here, but eventually it might be worthwhile to listen, as I don't think any of you have been on the winning side of an election/referendum for the best part of twenty years.

As for the upcoming one; what is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Neither Labour or Conservatives will make this country better, I'm absolutely sure of it. Sadly, I can't see anyone else offering a better option either.

Politics at the moment is absolutely depressing as hell. I don't blame anyone for pulling the protest vote. I predict we'll see a lot of that in July. Labour will probably win though, but is that really because they are good? Not at all. It's because the Conservatives have alienated the entire nation. It's not really anything to celebrate. Utterly shit times I'm afraid.
Yeah, that's told us. Not like the country's gone to shit in that time like a lot of us warned.
