Yes, he goes by the name of Titus Bramble. I'm a better central defender than he is! Awful excuse for a footballer.

I assume by lucky you mean spent most of their lives training and working hard to try and make it. IMO no such thing as luck.

Seth Johnson, Almunia, anyone who currently plays for man city or chelsea.

I'd say Seth Johnson has been unlucky, he won an England cap before getting a bad injury so he couldn't have been too shabby

Kieron Dyer must of made millions out of his potential but actually achieved fuckall

People confuse him with Darren?

So many lucky footballers. Nicky Summerbee was dreadful, he also ended the career of Steve Froggatt (a truly unlucky footballer).

Hear, hear Gouldie. Most of them are way overpaid for the value they bring to the field...... and society.

Bellendamy.
Lucky not to have had his career finished by some defender he gobbed off too, or by Shearer who still seems to want to knock him out. Makes Shearer a good bloke in my eyes.

Richard Shaw. Unbelievable how he eked a career out of the game.

Is you on the pipe? Absolutely definition of a solid pro.

Solid pro? Do me a favour, he was worth a goal every other game to the opposition. I'll give him his due, he always made sure he was pleasant to the local media, and conned a career due to it.

I mean footballers who you percieve to be shocking but make a very good living out of the game,

I respectfully disagree. You generally don't play 600 league games by saying a few nice words to the camera.

Anyone playing for Citeh these days. Silly money for average players like Lescott and Barry. Now there's a name, Gareth Barry. He really is the luckiest player in England, he's not very good at all.

I think you must look at a few and think "how did they get that" when others equally or more talented just did not get the rub of the gree when needed most. Either their face did not fit at given time or a change in manager at a given time etc etc. Yes luck plays a part.
But to some xtent you make your own luck as they say.

Leon Best springs to mind. Average talent currently on high wages at Newcastle.

Same can be said of managers. If you are a little lucky then your name could be Capello on £6+ million a year and still in his job after the world cup farce.

Alex Fergerson...some mighty luck when they beat Bayern in '99 in those last two minutes from 0-1 don't you think? certainly not by design.

Evtushok may not have been the grade, we didn't see enough to find out. But I saw more than enough of Shaw to spot a poor/lucky footballer.

Shaw was a decent player, no world beater but did a job. Perhaps over rated slightly due to number of appearances but difficult to understand the malice in this thread.

As am I. I don't think anyone has suggested he was Franco Baresi, but he served this club well. As I said, opinions, everyone's got one. Kuklinski doesn't seem to like Cov fans very much, it would appear.

Steve McManaman!

He was on 80 grand a week at man city, back in the days before man city had money! and then at madrid he played about tenn games all season, and one of them happened to be the champions league final! and to top it off he scored in it too!

jammy sod just doesnt cover it!

To say Shaw was a decent player shows the game is about opinions. It's a novel concept mind, a centre-half who is afraid to head the ball, who panics when he has the ball at his feet and often gave the ball away.

As for Cov fans, it's nothing personal because I don't know them individually, but I stick by my belief; if Cov fans rate a player and talk about him being a great player, he'll probably be no good. If they slate a player he'll probably have talent. Bothroyd and McCallister were booed, while the likes of Shaw and Williams are seen as club legends. It really does say it all.

It was only recent that Shaw was in the voting for Coventry's best ever player, God only knows why? Must be his friendship with the Telegraph sports reporter.

Machin, at least you are no longer attempting to argue the merits of Shaw. It would appear once the laughable man marker argument has been shown up for the weak argument it is, there is t a lot left to offer in his defense.
