I'll be honest I don't understand why they can't both have a half each, why you have a squad.

The biggest problem for me is that they don't really provide any meaningful variation to each other. So if we are up against a low block and Wright is getting nullified because he hasn't got any space to get in behind, you want to bring on a striker on who is comfortable back to goal so that they can hold the ball up for a few seconds while the movement can happen around him. Alternatively a striker who is strong in the air in the box, to cause a bit of chaos and fear in centre backs if we're crossing from wide.

When Simms leaves, it will be mutually beneficial. Simms won't leave because he's not good enough, but because he will want more starts and Lampard will want better variation in his strikers.

If we'd have signed Bamford, Simms would barely play for us again.

To be honest I think both are decent enough at this level, but would want to be improving on both if we were lucky enough to get to the PL.

They’re different types of CF that will come in handy at different moments and suit different sort of games

I would imagine he couldn’t care less what a small handful of the fanbase think.

If we do decide to sell Simms next year I think we’d get £10m+. Very good goals to minutes record in the league. Possibly a promotion on the CV and still a good age.

Goals per minutes on pitch. Simms is about 25 pc above Wright. Assante 10pc. Nobody can argue who is the best technical player, Wright by miles. Horses for courses.

I don’t think the stats flatter Wright. He’s a good way ahead of Simms as a player. Simms gets goals but due to his all round play this is his level. Wright has more potential to play higher.

Simms would be much better in a front 2.
When he came on against West Brom I think he won every header but no one got around him for the knock downs.
He and BTA as a front 2 would be effective but would need a change of formation.

Simms for me is defiitely a confidence player who looks like he gets shook pretty easily. When hes on it - he's a good player.

Wright is an enigma. Hes clearly one of the best players in the league. He's either brilliant or non existent. I don't quite get it. For me hes one of those players you rough up early, and you won't hear from him. That being said if he was consistent he'd be in the premier league already.

My gut feeling is that Haji would take the Prem quite well. We will play a different style altogether and won’t be coming against low blocks as we do in the Championship.

I’m assuming here, but what we seen v Boro is a roadmap of how we’d try to play in the Prem. To do that, you need a bit more athleticism.

He'd probably sign a new contract with us, IMO.

I think he will. Still think he would move for around £20m. Just a hunch.

Wright and Simms are different types of player and that is to our advantage. Sometimes when you change strikers during a game you want them to pose a different set of problems for the opposition defensively.

I often think Simms strengths at defending the opponents set piece is often overlooked by our fans.

Being honest I have a lot of love for both players. They've brought us some great moments. But they also both frustrate me so much as it just feels like they should be able to perform to a higher level than they do consistently.

For Simms it feels like a mental block (as a confidence player myself I can sympathise). With Wright I genuinely wonder how often he has played carrying injuries.

If they could both increase their consistency by 10-15% I think they would live long in the sky blue memory.

Whereas Simms just seems to drift through games and as I have said before even he looks astounded that he's scored, having said that he does manage to score goals at times

Wright has scored more goals for us in fewer games than Gyokeres.

Do you think that Wright is a better player than Gyokeres? For us, in context.

One of the complaints about Wrights goal production is that he doesn’t get enough passes. Vic would say F*** that and go get the ball himself. That’s what I need to see from him.
