The past 2 days have been disappointing for football in my opinion. On Tuesday, it didn't seem like the players were giving there all, but more worryingly, neither did the fans (not our fans, we were brilliant as always). Across the country, attendances of League Cup matches were pretty poor. Some fans don't seem to give a hoot about this cup. So I wanted to get your views for this week's Cooks Question. Do you take the League Cup seriously? Whats are your views on the competition? Get your views in ASAP if you want them broadcast. Sports Lounge kicks off at 10am on 98.6 Hillz FM, www.hillzfm.co.uk and via the Tune In Radio App. You can also catch the show on demand via www.mixcloud.com/hillzfm from Friday morning. Today's episode of Sports Lounge will be dedicated to the late Jayden Parsons, so if you have any memories of Jayden you'd like read out on the show, please let me know

The League Cup has and always will be an unwelcome distraction from more pressing matters in my opinion. Solely the preserve of the big clubs who want to offer competitive football to their reserve team. It's about as welcome as the international "break" two weeks into the new season.

It's pointless outside of the big six or seven clubs these days, like the FA Cup but that has history on its side.

The best it's for now is giving a small club a payday while they get humiliated by Arsenal or Chelsea.

I'd almost rather they just had a lottery of the smaller clubs, gave some of them a windfall and skipped straight to the quarter finals.

Some extra paydays from staying in would obviously be welcome but I'm not overly disappointed that we've gone out. After all, that was inevitable at some stage. A good FA Cup run would mean more to me. I'd especially like to see us go all the way to the final in the JPT. If only because that's a realistic possibility.

I wouldn't say we got humiliated at Arsenal last visit. I thought we gave a good account of ourselves.

Wasn't referring to that specifically. Though we did get humiliated in the League Cup game.

I think most clubs give less importance to the League Cup now and tend to field weakened teams. In some cases complete reserve teams play as, unlike the JPT, there is no rule to prevent it. The fans increasing apathy towards the competition is just following that lead.

The League Cup was seen as an inferior competition from its inception. The 'big' clubs at the time didn't bother to enter. It was made compulsory in the late 60s but to get that accepted they gave it a Wembley final. If the League Cup was scrapped I doubt many people would be bothered.

The bread and butter is and always will be the league football in all divisions.Cup competitions are a distraction but also a money spinner, and as football is more these days about cash and wealth lower clubs especially welcome them with open arms.Big clubs only take them seriously in the latter stages that's why they field weakened sides in the early rounds.Personally I want us out of League One so anything else I'm not that concerned with.

I would care more if any money generated would go to the team but as it's stands, it's a cup that we can't win and won't see the money from so round 1 exit is fine for me. Having said that, it's always exciting to be in a cup draw, we're long overdue playing the villa

For the it starts way too early in the season, we have literally kicked off on Saturday and out of the cup by Tuesday which seems crazy. The FA cup starts at a sensible point in the season where teams are settled and can prioritise accordingly and i think this is why teams play weakened sides, not to disresepct their opponents but wanted to focus on the 1st and 2nd games of the season.

They should scrap the League Cup or change it to something meaningful. Maybe a shorter cup competition just for L1 and non Europe PL teams. Leave L1 and L2 with the JPT and the FA Cup as the one for everyone.

Know what you mean but some of the top 4 take it seriously, its an easy access cup if you cannot win the league! chiefdave (trying to get this mention thing working!!!)
