Although in August I predicted relegation this season, I've been goign to individual games feeling optimistic on the day about each fo them....lately this has been wearing thin.

If we lose against Bristol City on Boxing Day, we'll be at least 10 points from safety at the halfway mark, having played every team in the division - we expect to lose a couple of key players in January anyway; making up a 10 point gap as the bottom team in the form table must mean we are doomed.

Making up a 7 point gap means we are doomed. What difference does 3 points make when the team can't put the ball in the back of the net and your defenders can't stop giving the ball to oncoming, opposing strikers.

good thread! We still have a chance, though most have given up.

We have a chance? We are currently 8 points and +4 goals away from safety. This is going to be difficult to achieve imho.

Not if Forest win. We will still be 8 points away.

Like CJ I was convinced we would go down even before a ball was kicked this season, I've seen nothing to change my mind about that. If we are to perform a what would be our greatest escape we have to win our next 2 home game, a point is not good enough. We've then got West 'am and Derby away followed by a home game against 'Boro... how many points would you expect us to get from those game.

The trouble is I don't expect us to get anything from Bristol, the way we are playing.

I think our points this season have all been a bit of a surprise.

being realist we need 12 wins from 24 games or anything that adds up to 36 points.... cannot see that happening myself

I don't think I'll believe that we have a fighting chance until we win four on the bounce and other results go our way. To be honest I think I have more chance of sh!tting out my nipples.

....it's looking grim guys. We simply can't afford any more defeats at home.
Away we must start picking up at least 1 win and a draw in every three played on the road.
Can we suddenly do that?

If we were 8 points iff the play offs would people still think we had a chance of getting promoted? If so then surely it works the same way at the other end of the table? These are the same players that Drew away at leeds and beat Forest and Derby! We just need that 1 win and just maybe our season will turn for the better!

Forest are 8pts from the play-offs on 17pts. So, no I still wouldn't think we had a cat in hells chance of achieving a play-off spot TBH.
