Division One -- still wide open (1 Viewer)

Far too early to judge who will/won't be the leaders after 10 games.. eg if CCFC beat Stevenage, leaves them just 2 points off the play off positions. Notts County/Tranmere won't, in my opinion, last the course. I still maintain that with the right management CCFC will gain automatic promotion.

Don't mock! The OP has a very good point. It certainly does not look like there is a commanding team yet. We just have to play our part and start winning expectedly.
I said last year when we got relegated the division is suddenly weaker than it has ever been of late with perhaps only a couple of teams among the obvious contenders.
Auto promotion is most definately the aim.

We haven't won a league match since 31st March.

I'd also wager a large amount of money that we will not be top of the table after 10 games.

How many times have we had a good start to the season and still finish near the bottom? All teams will have a good run and a bad run. We still have players to come back from injury.

Sheff Wednesday got 93 points to finish second......so we only need another 90 points from the last 40 games then..

At the moment i'll be happy with 55 points end of season. Cause at the moment I can't see where a win is gonna come from. Sad state of affairs

I think automatic promotion has gone in the way that the Premiership title has gone for Norwich this season. If the new manager is a bloody miracle worker, with the present squad and owners, the best we can pray for is to creep into the play-offs this season. I'm sticking with my 14th prediction, but feel like I'm being wildly optimistic in that! That's heart: head says 16th-20th.

I agree with that, Otis's prediction of 14th is looking ambitious now after all the stick he got pre season.

....another 70 from 40 games to rach playoffs...eek

This bunch of players, on paper, is good enough to finish top three as a minimum. This league is really, really poor and we've got a decent enough squad.

However, from where we are now, with the start we've had, top 8 is still very achievable, maybe top 6 with the right man in charge.

The bookies have us about 8th favourites for promotion still, and they're not usually far wrong on these things. Effectively they're predicting us to finish 8th.

But based on what PVA? The fact that we have heard of some of the signings?

That's it, we're talking about promotion in the middle of the worst rut in the entire Football League. If there was a definition of "crisis club", it would be CCFC.

I think a lot of what is rotten at the heart of the club goes back to the owners: the stadium rent debacle, the revolving boardroom door, the ridiculous Brody, Ken in the dug-out, numerous transfer embargo's, the crazily under-funded squad of last season, "banner-gate", the "take the bonus cut or don't play" episode..I'm sure there's plenty more. Put that all together, and bear in mind that football people network a lot, and you can be pretty certain that we are a complete laughing stock in the football world. Players must be ashamed to play for us, and only the truly desperate would come here.

Thats it... if these players were that good, they would not be playing in this league. Simple

And to get the good ones that are prepared to play at this level, like Southampton, Charlton and Norwich did, you need to spend a bit of money-not a lot-and keep your best players. We have done neither.

Sheffield United are in seventh. One spot off the play offs without recording a single win yet. Things are tight. But a decent season is still achievable

ok 92 points minimum - 89 to go in 40 games

thats about 27 wins 8 draws and 5 defeats!!!!!
I think not

playoffs will need about 75 points
thats about 21 wins 9 draws 10 defeats very unlikely
