Surely there is a way to appeal against the level of officiating we’ve had to deal with (minus Sam Alisson) this festive period. Fucking spineless twats ruining games and Im not even on about the lot that get paid fucktonnes to put no effort in. MvE first half performance was inexcusable, Wright anonymous, Rudoni wasteful

It was a blatant penalty, obviously.

But to be fair to the ref I don't think he would be able to see that one with the angle it happened at.

Refs will not give us penalties under any circumstance. So let’s just forget it and move on.

Needs to be called out by the Lampard and King. Put pressure on them before the next game.

It was a penalty yes but defend properly and not like clowns and we wouldn’t need to rely on a penalty also kitching should of scored before their winner so don’t blame the ref we only have ourselves to blame .

Clearly the managers message is getting lost in translation!

Lino was opposite side, no way of seeing it, very clever from defender, he could easily see Thomas as there were only two players and was fully visible.

I'd like you to look at post 249 on Ref.watch and see the ref. had a clear view of the defender pulling the shirt and EMC falling he couldn't possibly get his foot to the ball.My thoughts are that shot should be sent to the authorities and ask for their comments.

That was done on purpose just lost his rag.I do think their player should get spoken too for fiegning an injury when clearly he was just tapped on the back of the head.

I may be wrong but, from the highlights, it looks as if we were on the attack - a cross comes in from our right - and Thomas, who is up in the attack is jostled and brought down by their defender. The attack fails and the ball is cleared upfield and the altercation between Thomas and that defender then follows. As many have already said, Thomas should not have raised his hand but one can understand the frustration he would have felt had he been fouled as l saw it.

Refs just don't want to give Pens......diabolical

(Lati handball was a pen at Charlton IMO for some minor balance)

They are too incompetent they need the help.

VAR can work if you get the right people operating and interpreting it.

I don't care how much they get it right or not, it ruins the game for everyone in the stadium who enjoys celebrating goals.

VAR is for people who watch football on TV or politely clap in the stadium after a goal.

To each his own but it ruins the game for me watching my team suffer from ridiculous decisions that could be overturned by someone with a camera and a brain.

Definitely a pen.

I haven’t seen a replay of it but can someone explain why EMC’s goal, following the header from Thomas was ruled out please?

One fun theory/cycle I had:
->Ref has a mare and makes awful decisions that cost us
-> Lampard digs the refs out post match
-> the next ref then turns up to the game with a dislike for Lampard for slagging off his pals, takes it out on the team to get back at him
-> fans sing about Lampard being right cus the refs are shite
-> the refs then talk to each other after the game in a little WhatsApp group and share their hatred for us, and the cycle continues.

Because it was Simms. And for a foul by Thomas.

That's football though, and has been since the dawn of time. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. I'm not someone who thinks it balances out over a season, especially for a team like us - but it's the game we all fell in love with.

VAR may improve the overall efficacy of some decisions, but it's still not without its controversies.

The best thing about watching live football at a stadium for me, has always been last minute winners/equalisers. Even when we were dog shit for years, we'd still have a couple of those a season to keep the magic alive.

When that aspect of the game is diminished because they want to use engineering tolerances to dictate a sport played by humans to create drama for the TV audience, it's not something I want.

I understand if you're someone who cares more about the statistic for percentage of correct decisions we get per season, rather than innate outbursts of emotion, then you're going to be in favour of it.

Not for me. But their player threw himself down in a way that convinced the referee. For me that's probably just as bad as, if not worse than, diving for a penalty.

I agree I don’t think it was a foul. But the difficulty for refs is players try to con them. Eccles gets us a lot of fouls because he goes down with the slightest contact from behind or the side. Sakamoto against Ipswich threw himself to the floor like a rag doll after losing control of the ball. Unfortunately for him the Ipswich player pulled out of the tackle. The ref didn’t speak to him but certainly gave him a disapproving look.

At corners we do our fair share of holding and blocking off.

We need to worry about putting the ball in the back of the net and stop praying for penalties.
