What is going on?

Two red cards in just over a month, one for an awful tackle and one for an act of petulance I would expect to see on a Sunday league pitch - VERY lucky for BTA not to have a third last night and to top it all off an on pitch scuffle which has resulted in an FA fine

I don't mind us showing a bit of grit, but some of this is plain stupidity

Frustration
Another little melee after this game wasn’t there?

Yes, not Southampton level but there was something

Head loss, and it won’t be the last time it costs us this season. Frank needs to get a hold on it fast.

I have no doubt it played a part in the team talk for Norwich last night, they were well up for us from kick off second half.

I will be amazed if there is no retrospective action from the authorities regarding that BTA elbow.

Showing aggression in the wrong way.

Fail to compete for 50/50s, not getting stuck in, not battling when we need to put in 100% effort. Then sucker punch the opposition.

It’s ultimately the management’s responsibility. While I greatly enjoyed watching the Lampard headloss after the Southampton game, that’s not a mentality you can or should take into every game.

Heads are going because the players can see what is happening

What happened with Tats near the end? I only saw one replay but he seemed to turn and lunge at their defender off the ball?

He got nudged and then clothes-lined the player. Another potential red card, if spotted.

I'm no psychologist but honestly, it looks to me like the pressure is starting to get to the players. It's starting to remind me of Tottenham Hotspur in 2015/16, it must be really tough to be on the brink of glory only to watch it slowly start to slip away from you. BTA's conduct in particular was a disgrace last night and he was very lucky to remain on the pitch.

Like everything else from last night: It's more than possible to get a grip on this and Lampard feels like the perfect person to lead the way as he has been through situations like this before, but if nothing changes, it will get worse.

Correct, it's the same as what is happening to the fans, me included. We can see it happening before our eyes. Difference is we, as fans, can't do anything about it.

I wonder if, if/when we are caught, overtaken and we become the chasers then the mentality changes to one that we are more used to.

I don't mean this in any big headed way, if any non Cov fans are reading this. But we're everyone's cup final at the minute. It would be the same if it was the other way around too, so this isn't 'look at us we're massive'. Winning and getting one over on top of the league could kick start a great run for every team, knowing they've beaten the best team in the league (statistically). It gives them the belief they can beat anyone in the league. This season we've seen big clubs come to the CBS playing for time and taking a draw from minute one, with the exception of Ipswich. Add to that, it's a nice bonus for them to beat an England legend in Lampard too.

I agree and I’m going to contradict myself a bit here because the performance was not acceptable however if EMCs header goes in, different outcome. It would have been undeserved and still maybe gone on to lose but what I’m getting at is, it’s fine margins.

I said last week I don’t care about performances when we win but to lose and play badly is concerning. Teams are raising their game a bit as we lead the league but it’s clear to me it’s not talent. These are the same players who went 13 clear. It’s mentality along with tactics.

Yes teams know our style whereas at the start it’s unknown but then teams pick that up quickly, not after 30 games etc.

Back to basics for me. Luckily for us our home form is brilliant so we just need to tweak away form.

its the problem of being x amount of points clear at the top, you start to think you've invincible, then you lose, couple of draws and everyone starts seeing we're not as much as force as we were feared. we havent scored freely for a couple of months now

Stop going down easy and expecting free kicks, bunch of posers.

I've calmed a bit from last night, and it's true. If Wright scored from that Esse flick and we went 2 up before half time, we probably win at a canter. As we would have played with belief and a touch of arrogance which works wonders when things are going well.

Agree with points aswell that teams step up against us purely as we are top of the league. Saw it from the start - their big lad at the back tackled Wright for a corner, and straight away is standing over him giving it the big one. It was a nothing tackle, but the guy was pumped up. And Wright frankly looked terrified of him from that point. Totally different mentality that HAS to be addressed else yes, this crumble will go gown in history. And its always Coventry.

Why not? Everybody else does it and is largely rewarded for it.
Like it or not it’s very, very much part of the game now.

BTA and Saka don't seem like the type to lash out like that, seemed very out of character from them both.

There are ways to channel your aggression, the Dasilva tackle at S'hampton was reckless and cost us a win in my opinion, BTA last night needless and if we lose him for three games it would be a massive blow
