I remember us kicking the shit out of a very young Sunderland side a couple of seasons ago.So striking how much better other teams are at the dark arts. Another reason why I think Ipswich and Boro will go up and not us, although this has been the case every season.
This could be my rose coloured tinted fan spectacles on, but I can’t think of any Coventry team who have ever nailed game management and dark arts (I’ve been supporting them since 98/99).
Can anybody think of a Cov team who have done it well? Honestly none spring to mind.
Don’t think we’ve had a manager who’s ever really instilled itJust not in our DNA (Do Not Aggravate)
I guess more as a consistent style rather than a one off gameI remember us kicking the shit out of a very young Sunderland side a couple of seasons ago.
I reckon our cup winning side knew what they were doing.I guess more as a consistent style rather than a one off game
Doug, we need to salvage the season - Get this on DVD in the club shop!I remember us kicking the shit out of a very young Sunderland side a couple of seasons ago.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Would have thought something nugget would have rubbed off. Instead he’s produced the most gutless team going.Lampard played under the master of the dark arts, and has learned absolutely f all from him.
'Uncompromising' was a commonly used adjective to describe him in many a programme note.Maurice Setters put it about a bit.
Left one on Seth Johnson - nice….Didn't Dennis Wise get booked in about 6 seconds on his debut against Derby?
So did NuddyMaurice Setters put it about a bit.
How the fuck would he know?I think we’ve had the odd player who puts it about a bit, albeit some of them didn’t always do it on the sly.
More recently the likes of Fadz, Kitching and even Callum Doyle. Bidwell doesn’t shy away from anything but he’s quite an honest player in my view.
but not enough of it I don’t think.
seems to me our players are too nice and when they try to do anything dirty we get penalised. Which I suppose is how it should be.
I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to view us like sheff Utd.
By the way a blues supporting mate that I know says we do actually do all the stuff other teams do in terms of time wasting etc - I don’t agree but interesting to hear it.
I don’t think we’ve ever had a manager who really pushes that philosophy amongst the players. Maybe Andy Boothroyd? That was just crap football rather than dark artsI think we’ve had the odd player who puts it about a bit, albeit some of them didn’t always do it on the sly.

Didnt Dublin do that at HR?.. as in walk straight off before the red was producedRemember Donall Murphy kneeing Kenny Burns in the nuts then turning round and heading for the tunnel before the ref had sent him off.

I do recollect a similar Dublin incident. The Murphy/ Burns one was back in the 70s. A very hard fought local derby against Blues.Didnt Dublin do that at HR?.. as in walk straight off before the red was produced
